Of course, keep the good study habits you've got and improve upon them.

For example: many of us already take notes in school. If you are already doing so you can improve your notes by adding colors and high lighting what is more important from your class. Also, you could start using abbreviations when possible to keep up with what the teacher says.

Warning: Do NOT try to copy everything the professor is saying. This will result in falling behind on your notes and not catching the most important aspects of your lesson.

Most of the kids at school that get better grades than you do spend most of their time reading books and avoiding social events because they think the more they study the better the grades they will get. If you are a high school student needing good study habits then you should start by looking at what is working for you right now. Identifying what works best for you now will make your journey to college and through college fairly easy.

As well as seeking what is working for you at this moment, you should also identify the things that are giving you most of the trouble. Do you get bored in class? Everyone says college is so difficult, that everything gets more complicated and that is hard to pass! Truth is that everyone that says all of these things don't know how to manage their time, tasks and projects which is a very important good study habit for college students.

It is true that the level of work in college is more intense but it is very well manageable as well when you follow good study habits.

Let's say you have a project due in two months. A college student with good study habits would work on the project little by little every day until the project is finished. On the other hand a college student with bad study habits would wait until the last minute to start working on the same project, this student would rush and get stressed out to tears about the project while our 'good study habits student' is all ready to go.

Go To Class: Always, always attend class. You don't know what you will miss from your next lesson if you are not present in class. Attending to class could save you from missing out on a "surprise" test or clues to your mid term exam.

NO Cramming: Trying to get the most of any subject into your brain right before of a test is not going to work. Instead try to study just a couple of hours a day and when you are rested.

Read Before Class: Reading today's lesson before each of your classes gives you an unfair advantage over the other students. The information will be fresh in your brain and you will be able to understand better what is going on in class.

Prioritize Your Tasks: Remember the example I gave you above with the students with good and bad study habits? The student with good study habits prioritized what was most important and started working on the project way before it was due.

Do Your Homework At School: Doing your homework at school is more comfortable and doable than waiting to get home a do it. Once you are at home you want to rest, right? Well, try completing your homework before getting home.

Involve Yourself In Sports/Arts: These activities will get your mind out of the books. You should always try to make school fun.

Talk To Your Teachers: Teachers are not that bad, in fact they could help you pass the subject if you talk to them and explain what are the areas on which you are having trouble.

Join Study Groups: There are many ways of getting most of your studies, one of them is joining study groups. These study groups are super beneficial to get most of your questions answered.

Beat Procrastination: Procrastination is a mayor issue for students but once you get passed it you will be more productive.

Clutter Free Study Space: Always make sure to study in an area that is free of other books, papers and distractions. Clean up your table and make sure you only have what you need to work on in front of you. Nothing else!

Prepare For Tests Ahead Of Time: If a test is coming up in two weeks then start reading your material today. Read one or two pages daily... when test time comes you will just know the test or exam is nailed!

Know Your Schedule: Become familiar with your schedule. Be aware of what's coming up next, classes, tests, exams, projects. This will keep you on track big time.
