How to Use Google Calendar with Squidoo

I do NOT use the Google Calendar with my Squidoo lenses right now.

But I have plans for adding this feature in the future. And it's easy to integrate the Calendar to alert visitors to important dates and times.

Google designed the Calendar in Google Apps for your Domain to be customized for many different types of situations by selecting different settings from menus.

Here's How I Would Use Google Calendar with Squidoo 

The Calendar in Google Apps is the same as the stand-alone Google Calendar. Except it's branded to your domain name.

After entering events/activities, you change the menu setting to make the calendar public and display it on its own web page. In this mode, any activities on the calendar can show up in Google search results.

The application automatically generates the URL (web page address) for your public calendar. Just install this URL as a link in any Squidoo module as you normally would with any other link.

Clicking on the link displays the monthly view in a web-browser window. Visitors can navigate forward and backward through the months, so you can share the dates & times of events far into the future.

The Subscribe link in the lower right-hand corner of the calendar lets a visitor add your calendar to their calendar. So any changes you make to the calendar for your domain are reflected on their calendar.

Brainstorming More Options for Using Google Calendar 

With Google Apps and Google Calendar, you can...
  • post industry events/activities related to the content of your lens.

  • post dates and times of upcoming conference calls, webinars, lectures, etc. that you offer.

  • post dates and times when you update each lens (if you do so on a regular schedule, and each lens gets updated at a different time).

  • notify customers about the dates of upcoming promotions / sales.

  • post 'office hours' (times people can Chat live using Instant Messaging) on a day-by-day basis for all contributors to a Squidoo lens.
