A Squidoo lens does well when it offers great content.

But without regular updates, great content eventually becomes stale. Obsolete.

Start Page in Google Apps for your Domain provides powerful features you can use to keep yourself up to date, so you know when and how to update or revise your great Squidoo lenses.

This 11-chapter ebook describes the basic concepts behind building professional-looking multi-lens projects -- ebooks, extended tutorials, department stores, shopping malls, and more -- using Squidoo and Google Apps for your Domain.

Here's How I Use a Start Page with Squidoo

Every user registered at your domain gets their own Start Page. If you use iGoogle, this is basically the same thing. But branded to your domain name, not Google's.

The administrator of the domain -- which is probably you -- can customize the colors, logo, the general types of content and features, and more by selecting options from menu screens. It's very quick and easy to do, so all users start with the same basic layout and options.

Within the parameters set by the administrator, users can select what and how their personal content is displayed on their Start Page, just like iGoogle.

In addition to the basics -- GMail, calendar, to-do list, my Docs & Spreadsheets files, local Google map search -- my Start Page has quite a few Google Gadgets that show me the latest posts from the major Las Vegas bloggers, as well as news feeds about Las Vegas, conventions, special events, etc.

In other words, I use the Start Page as a sort of centralized data collection point. It's an easy way to stay current on what's happening across the Las Vegas Valley, so I can keep my Squidoo lenses up to date.

Brainstorming More Options for Using Start Page

With Google Apps and Start Page, you can...
  • if you collaborate with other experts through user accounts on your domain, a Start Page for each person helps them organize their work related to the domain name.

  • keeps collaborators focused on the same goals, and notifies them of important developments/deadlines, when they sign in.
