Google-Plus: The Facebook Killer?

News Flash: Google just reached its 10 million members after a few weeks out to the public. Public here means a limited few (millions) who received invites to this "invite-only" initial offering from Google.

The war wages on for the best social network kingship. And Google has come up to something that is rumored to "kill" the social network giant Facebook: Google . The netizens of cyberspace are waiting for this battle to see who's the better man.

Google has already millions or even billions of followers through its free email and web applications. It's going to be an easy slide into this whole new social network pool Google will offer in a matter of time and who knows when.

Are you ready to dive into this new dream pool or staying in the warmth of your favorite social network site?

Streams and Links Sharing

My First Shared Link in Google+

Today I tried sharing this lense to and in Google+ using the URL (Squidoo currently doesn't have this feature) hoping to share my lense to my "circles" in Google+. I hate to admit it, but I was disappointed.

You see, in Facebook, my URL is shown with picture (that picture in the page) and some 20 words from my URL page. And I think this is cool what FB is doing. I was hoping G+ would do the same. But no. It only recognizes the domain name and ignores the rest, that is when displaying my shared URL. Although clicking on the link takes you to the right URL page, I still would like to see my own page on the link rather than the home page of the main site.

Google+ doesn't even display the image on my URL page which is a little bit frustrating when you are sharing, say, your personal page. The dropdown on the upper right side of the share (indicated by the triangle pointing downwards enclosed in a circle) doesn't provide much.

So I guess I'm stuck with this. Until Google fixes this problem, sharing a link seems unattractive to me and to my "circle", especially my circle.

Google-Plus and 10 Million Reasons to Get Into the Hype

ZDNet reports a whooping 10 million members of Google+ in just a few weeks time since the launching of this new social network. How successful Google+ is shown on the following claims:
  • 1Over 10 million people have joined Google+
  • 2Over 1 billion items have been shared and received in a single day.
  • 3The +1 button is used on average 2.3 billion times a day.

Who's Gonna be King?

It's your time to be heard.

Will Google+ kill the reigning king of social network, Facebook?

YES. Facebook is going down...

NO. Not in this lifetime...

Just Opened my Google+ Account

And here's what I found...

Google+ Notification PageAs soon as I got inside my Google+ account, I went directly to my notifications page and see what's happening. I have three friends who added me to Google+ network and as soon as I logged, there they were.

The notifications area is very clean and simple and that is why I love the ambiance. Probably so because this is still in beta and there are not so much ads unlike Facebook. The simplicity of the page indicates easy navigation and easy to the eyes.

Google+ calls this thing "circle" which simply means a group or category. There are default circle name suggestions but you can always add your desired circle name. The first time you add someone in a circle by clicking the button "Add to circles", Google+ notifies you about what's going to happen when you add someone to a circle. Very informative especially when it's your first time to add someone to a circle. You won't see the same message, though, after the first cilcle addition. Of course, I don't want to be bugged by the same message everytime I add someone to my circles.

What can you say about Google+?

No Google+ Account? E-mail address is required if you want me to invite you in. Drop me a message in my profile, if you are interested.

I looked at it briefly and was just confused, so put it on the back burner. Obviously I'm going to have to check it out - and just when I was catching on to Facebook!

What will the future hold for Google+ and Facebook?

klanklareaux predicts:

It's going to be a bloody war, I am sure of that ;-). Google+ is going to crush down to bits this Facebook. But FB will not lose without a fight.
