Google Chrome Review
My personal take on the new browser...
After following all the hype and reading the new stuff about Chrome, I was really anxious to check it out. When launch day rolled around, I even stayed up late, got up early just to see if they stealth launched it. Turns out Google held a press conference and I just kind of sat there at work watching it and refreshing the page every few minutes.
Lo and behold, it launched. The first thing that hit me was that this browser is extremely fast. Even compared to FireFox, the JavaScript execution of Chrome just feels faster overall. I loaded up Squidoo and the editor took off instead of dragging a little bit on changes.
The tab control on Chrome was something I was a little worried about, would tabs on top be intuitive enough to use regularly? They are. They even have a neat way to tear off and re-attach tabs similar to certain menus in Photoshop. I'm impressed with Chrome; it has a lot of great concepts for such an early stage browser.
There some downsides though, no extensions, controls aren't very customizable, and it could use a home and stop button. Even with separate tab processing, it still helps to be able to stop the page sometimes.
Home should just be a given since they built the wicked cool speed dial page (yes Opera came up with it first, but Chrome's design is better). There is also the issue with the EULA if you haven't heard, but Google is fixing that.
Overall, Chrome is a pretty nifty browser. It's got a long way to go before it displaces FireFox for regular use, but it's a decent place to start for people just getting into computers and various levels of education.
Plus, it's good to get out and try something new, you know? Some people may not think we need a new browser, but those people may miss out on some of the improvements Chrome brings to the table. Improvements that can be integrated into the other existing browsers in the future.

I have used Chrome, but FF is still the default -- even though the two of us have to "step outside" once in a while. :)
