Hot To Use Froogle/Google base

**** what is google base/froogle - what used to be called froogle is now called google base...put simply it is google's online classifieds which is free and allows you to load each individual product with description....a google base result will appear just above regular results in a normal google.com search under a line that says shopping and shows normally 1-4 returns....the rest of this will explain how to load a "feed" with is like a spread sheet including all of the products in your shop (primarily for POD shopkeepers but others with a feed can use this also)

*****FYI some screen shots have changed however the steps are basically the same...google has simply given themselves a facelift

Step 1

You may be past this step already but if not, log into google and go to the my accounts page in the top right. click my items next to "base"

**at some point during this process it may take you to a profile page, set up your profile then return to the step you were on

Step 2

from the my items page there are 3 tabs at the top choose the one to the right called "bulk upload files"

Step 3

this will take you to the bulk upload screen. You will first need to register a bulk upload file name by choosing "register a new bulk upload file name"

Step 4

Specify a bulk upload file - in the text box enter the full name of the file including the extension on the end such as .txt

Step 5

catagorize your listing, for CPers use products

Step 6

Confirm you have correctly spelled the file name and click the register and continue button

Step 7

ensure your file is correctly formatted - for CPers if you are using a program such as Instant Cafe or CafeToolbox - your files are already formatted, skip to the bottom and click "i'm done"

Step 8

only proceed if your file is under 20MB

click Browse to locate your file

** if your file is over 20MB you cannot use this feature you will need to use the ftp option to upload your file.

Step 9

locate & choose your file from your computer

Step 10

final step

Click the upload & process button. it will then take several minutes to upload your file, then tell you to wait up to one hour, however for a first file this often takes more time, often up to 24 hours.
