hey all my first post on your site. i have and still use both chrome and firefox. i think chrome is faster on streaming videos. both are secure. never caught any virus on either one due to my common sense antivirus and my ad aware free antivirus. i also think most will like firefox over chrome because it has been around longer and people are used to it.for me both are good for doing different things.both offer alot of cool add ons/apps.both are google powered.just my opinion. thanks poorguy

I use Firefox for Squidoo. There were too many editing problems and delays with IE, though it works well for everything else I do online. I just switch back and forth. I've tried Chrome on one of our computers, but haven't used it for Squidoo yet.

I use IE, Firefox and Google for various links. Google for their world maps, firefox for their ease of applying addons like IM, and I use IE for general search. I have never had a problem with any of them. They each have the good and no so good points. Nice lense.

I love Opera, but Chrome vs Firefox battle is interesting and it is leading to faster pace of innovation, as competition usually does.
In this moment Chrome is, in my opinion, a bit ahead Firefox in terms of general look and feel, but both development teams are great and I expect the competition will go on!

  • Mah Name Is Mah Business Savvy ? Mar 31, 2011 @ 11:46 am | delete
Firefox is developed and maintained by an independent foundation of volunteers and people from the academic and research areas, with no commercial associations and for no monetary gain, and is open source, meaning that its code is available to anyone who might request it.

Chrome is developed and maintained by Google, a business corporation leading the fields of online advertising and marketing, and it's recently been proved and established as a fact that they're using the Google network, their search engine and their browser in conjunction to track people's private data for the purpose of monetary-based data mining.

I clearly don't even see a choice there.

Rise and shine, ignorant people of the world. If you can't use your own minds to defend your own lifes and interests, then who will ? The politicians ? The lawyers ? Or maybe Google ?

FF until Chrome gets a coupe more changes. Chrom is quickly growing with its app store, but the browser lacks many key power addons FF has. For example, youtube usability is horrible. Lacks addon integration (even though the addons exist) and playback functions.

testing with a lot of web browsers, like Google chrome, Mozilla FF, IE, safari. First lets start with the good old original IE. I mean everyone appreciates it for being really the first successful web browser, but that doesn't mean its all so popular now. The speed is slow, it crashes, no customization, and does not view some newer web pages. Lets talk about safari, the apple approach to a web browser. It has a nice thin sleek interface, fast web page loading, easy to make and find favorites and toolbars, but the good news stops there. Like IE some pages cant load or be read, sometimes it crashes, no customization, and I just don't think it will ever be the best of the rest.Time to get to the good stuff. Mozilla firefox was the first web browser that had EVERYTHING. A nice interface, thousands of themes and add ons, fast web page loading, doesn't crash (often) and everything about it is good, well just about everything. Like I said before it dose't crash that much but it does crash. And its unlimited customization, but the more add ons you add the slower the pages load. And that leads us with the new kid in town. Googles very own: Google Chrome. The latest web browser out there. It has a nice sleek interface, lots of customization (just like FF) it never crashes, web loading proven to be the fastest and most smooth, and no matter how many plug ins or themes or add ons you get it always goes back to its nice fast web loading. So I think I know the winner, 1st Google chrome
    2nd Mozilla Firefox
    3rd Safari
    4th good old IE

I started using Chrome instead of IE and then CCGAL recommended Firefox. I really love Firefox the most so when I had my computer fixed I just downloaded the new version of Firefox...3.6. I haven't bothered to download Chrome. I don't want to mess up my computer again with too many programs.

Great debate topic once again! I hope Google Chrome works some kinks out of its system. It definitely runs Javascript faster than Firefox, but Firefox is dependable. Chrome runs funny on some web pages, especially when submitting forms, saving things (like drafts or modules here on Squidoo), and on CafePress. Congrats on getting your wings this round, Squid Angel blessed!
  • ChineseKitesforKids Oct 4, 2009 @ 10:45 pm | delete

I like Chrome's speed, and Facebook works SOO much better with Chrome. But Firefox has extensions, and useful ones at that. I love FFox's extensions, such as Tab mix plus, Xmarks, Web Developer, Firebug, Chatzilla, etc..
  • gw Aug 16, 2009 @ 1:22 am | delete
I use Firefox in preference to Chrome. Chrome is more invasive, less easy to tweak and control, and it leaves unwanted Google stuff around after you uninstall it.

That said, I use three browsers on my machine, IE, Firefox and Opera with Firefox being the predominant one. IE is used before I install the others and occasionally to check for compatibility etc.

Even though I predominantly use Firefox there's still a lot wrong with it--too much to go into details over here. That's why I use Opera quite often too. Often Opera gets me out of a Firefox problem, as it often connects to slower sites better than FF and also it doesn't drop out on big downloads as often as FF or IE (IE being the worst by far). Opera has always bee the best browser when it comes to downloads--has been so for over a decade now.

The problems I had with Chrome when it was first released are gone. I use it more than FireFox on my XP computer. Because I don't like saving passwords in my browsers, I use Roboforms to fill passwords on my XP machine, and Norton's Identity Safe on my Vista machine and neither work with Chrome, so I don't use Chrome with any sites that require passwords.

The biggest thing I like about Chrome is the speed in executing JavaScript, which goes a long way in Ajax heavy sites like Squidoo or one of Google's apps. Beyond that, there are some neat things like the stats pages and the tab control is pretty sweet. I'm still using FireFox 95% of the time, but that mostly for the extensions. Give Chrome some time, it's still very early beta and could prove to be a pretty decent tool in the years to come.

Congrats on the Lens of The Day!
  • Pastiche Sep 20, 2008 @ 6:16 pm | delete
I'me playing with Chrome, and it's nimble and light. I abandoned NetScape years ago for IE, then moved to Firefox and it's my favorite so far.
I test my web sites against all browsers, so I'm using Chrome every day. I've seen 'em come and go - Mosaic,Gopher, CompuServe and AOL plus Opera and a few more ... Firefox wins my love hands down so far. Chrome is interesting, has some bugs (but its a beta), seems better for small screen low-bandwidth users. Let's not forget at one time AltaVista was the hands-down best search engine and look what happened there! Let's just say Cuil isn't. Competition, results, usability, security ... ah, devos are never bored.

Too soon to vote above, but so far Chrome is faster than Firefox & IE. IE is my comfort zone, but I have been using Firefox for Lens building. My first impression is that Chrome is so much faster than IE or Firefox, it's worth the initial awkwardness to be able to browse faster.

Hey! I just discovered that there is a built-in spell checker, I don't see a way to add to the dictionary while in the right-click menu, also you cannot go back and correct words after you've added characters after the mis-spelt word (it doesn't add the red underline until you type a space or punctuation, then you must back space to the bad word to change it), but this is still in beta, so hopefully it will be changed real soon!

Anyone who has noticed their web browsing has been getting slower should try this out, it doesn't take long to see the improvement.
