Create an avatar and chat with your friends in rooms you design
Google has launched a new Lively 3D world. This free portable service allows users to create their own avatars and rooms. You can even place your own Flickr pictures in picture frames and your favorite YouTube videos on your TV set.
Users can embed Lively on their favorite social networking websites and blogs.I've read Lively's already working on Facebook. Social networking may never be the same.
Since Lively is still in beta, I'm sure many new additions will be on there way. Could advertising be just around the corner? As a Google affiliate you could earn extra cash with Google 3D ads posted in multiple rooms.
I plan to take a stroll around Lively and experience this exciting 3D virtual world soon.
I'll keep you posted.

Official Google Blog Announces Lively Virtual World
- Official Google Blog: Be who you want on the web pages you visit
- The Lively team wants to help people experience another dimension of the web. We hope you will use the product to express yourself with and without words, and to do this in the places you already visit on the web.
If you enter a Lively room embedded on your favorite blog or website, you can immediately get a sense of the room creator's interests, just by looking at the furniture and environment they chose. You can also express your own personality by customizing your avatar's look, showing people who you are without having to say a word. Of course, you can chat with each other, and you can also interact through animated actions. In our user research, we've been amazed at how much more poignant it is to receive an animated hug than seeing the text "[[hug]]".
Prior to this release, we worked closely with Arizona State University. Based on feedback from ASU students and with help from the Google Desktop team, we added support for playing YouTube videos in virtual TVs and showing photos in virtual picture frames inside our rooms. Better yet, the gadgets you have in your Lively rooms can also run on your desktop.

- Google Releases 3D World Lively
- Google just released Lively, a 3D world where you can chat with others and create your own rooms. Traces of this program appeared back in 2007 under the name of My World (this project also received the rumor nickname Google metaverse; TomHTML, Tony and I also lately saw traces of something called Google Rooms, though we aren't 100% sure it's related). After installing the desktop setup for Windows - yes, this is one of the rare Google products which isn't completely browser-based - you'll be forwarded to lively.com again. There, you can pick from a number of available rooms, and sign-in with your Google account.

Create rooms, decorate them to your liking, and make sure to invite your friends over."
