As a young child, Elvis Presley's love for Gospel music brought him to the front of his church choir, imagining a time he'd be on stage.
The quartet takes the stage. Elvis drinks in the sight of them. Their hair is perfectly combed and the white handkerchiefs in the breast pockets of their coats look as clean and crisp as a brand new dollar bill. The piano player sits down and launches into a lively intro, his left hand loping up and down in octaves and his right hand banging out the chords. Elvis quickly recognizes the tune: "Jesus, Hold My Hand." The four singers are animated, smiling and gesturing to the crowd. Elvis feels as if they're singing every word just for him.
To young Elvis, these performers were heroes... In his young imagination, he could see himself standing onstage in a crisp, tailored suit, singing the songs he knew so well, entertaining people and living the life of a professional gospel singer. It was the first dream of his life, and one he never fully left.

Elvis Presley- Crying In The Chapel
Elvis Presley - Crying in the Chapel
I really love this song by the King. (words & music by Arthur Glenn) You saw me crying in the chapel. The tears I shed were tears of joy I know the meaning of contentment Now I am happy with the Lord Just a plain and simple chapel Where humble people go to pray I pray the Lord that I'll grow stronger As I live from day to day I've searched and I've searched But I couldn't find No way on earth To gain peace of mind Now I'm happy in the chapel Where people are of one accord Yes,We gather in the chapel Just to sing and praise the Lord You'll search and you'll search But you'll never find No way on earth To gain peace of mind Take your troubles to the chapel Get down on your knees and pray And Your burdens will be lighter And you'll surely find the way

Take My Hand, Precious Lord/Elvis Presley
"Take My Hand, Precious Lord" (aka "Precious Lord, Take My Hand") is a gospel song, written August 1932 by Rev. Thomas A. Dorsey (1899-1993), melody by George N. Allen (1812-1877). The melody, although credited to Dorsey, was taken from a 1844 hymn entitled, "Maitland," by American composer, George N. Allen (1812-1877). Dorsey said he used it as inspiration. The "Maitland" music was for the text "Must Jesus Bear the Cross Alone", it first appeared in The Oberlin Social and Sabbath School Hymn Book. Dorsey penned "Precious Lord" in response to his inconsolable bereavement at the death of his wife, Nettie Harper, in childbirth, and his infant son the day after. Earliest known recording; August 16, 1938 by vocalist Emory Johnson (Decca 7546). "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" is published in more than forty languages. It was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s favorite song, and he often invited gospel legend Mahalia Jackson to sing it at civil rights rallies to inspire the crowds; at his request she sang it at his funeral in April 1968. Opera singer Leontyne Price sang it at the state funeral of President Lyndon Baines Johnson in January 1973, and Aretha Franklin sang it at Mahalia Jackson's funeral in 1972. It was sung by Nina Simone at the Westbury music fair on April 7, 1968, three days after the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King. That evening was dedicated to him and recorded on the album 'Nuff Said! Recorded by Mahalia Jackson in New York City, Tuesday March 27, 1956, Columbia Records (CL 899); with The Fall-Jones Ensemble: Mildred Falls (piano); Ralph Jones (organ), released on the album Bless This House (1956). Jim Reeves version of the song is one of the best known of all. It was released as the "B" side of his hit single "This world is not my home" in 1965.

Elvis Presley - In the Garden This video is for my King. Nature pictures found from Internet. Thank you, photographer! (Words & music by C.A. Miles) I come to the garden alone While the dew is still on the roses And the voice I hear falling on my ear The song of God discloses And He walks with me And He talks with me And He tells me I am his own And the joy we share as we tarry there None other has ever known He speaks and the sound of His voice Is so sweet the birds hush their singing And the melody that He gave to me Within my heart is ringing And He walks with me And He talks with me And He tells me I am his own And the joy we share as we tarry there None other has ever known
