Gospel Of Mark Summary
Writing a gospel of Mark summary can be an overwhelming task. Mark is believed to have been the first written of the four gospels. Most date the book around 50 A.D. and all church fathers credit the book to Mark.
The gospel of Mark focuses primarily on the suffering son of God. Mark is quick to point out who Jesus is and why He came. Everything in Mark builds to show that Jesus came to give His life as a ransom for many. The suffering son of God. This was a difficult concept to grasp 2000 years ago and even for believers today we have much to learn as we read through Mark's gospel that points to Jesus.

Gospel Of Mark Summary - Who Is Mark?
The author writer Mark was no stranger to the early Christian community. Mark was the son of a well to do Jerusalem lady whose name was Mary and whose house was a key meeting place for the early church. From a young age Mark was brought up in the early life of the newly formed and growing church community. In Acts 12 we learn that Mark was also the nephew of Barnabas. On Paul's first missionary journey with Barnabas, Mark attended the trip being one of the key secretaries for the journey. For some unknown reason during this trip Mark leaves the group and headed home.
He does not emerge on the scene again until many years later. He is with Paul in Rome while Paul writes Colossians. He is mentioned again in the book of Philemon as a fellow worker with Paul in prison. We also see Mark mentioned again in 2 Timothy as one of the people Paul requests to see while he awaits his death sentence.
When Mark was not with Paul he was at the right hand of the Apostle Peter. In fact Peter calls Mark 'his son' in 1 Peter. They were very close and no doubt Mark's key source for the life and ministry of Jesus in writing his Gospel.
