Music

I love music! The only music I do not like is crying in your beer Country (but I like Country Rock) and I do not like Rap Music that I cannot understand. If I had to choose my favorite music it would be a hard call because I love music from the late 60's and Goth music from my time. I have about six top favorites and these two types of music rank in the top. I got the idea for this lens from Robins FaceBook Group Gothic Temptations

I looked up the definition for Gothic Music and this is what I found: Gothic rock (also referred to as Goth rock or simply Goth) is a musical subgenre of Post-Punk and Alternative Rock that formed during the late 1970s. Gothic rock bands grew from the strong ties they had to the English punk rock and emerging post-punk scenes.

I am so bad in remember names of groups but I am going to try and put a collection of some of my favorite "Goth" songs together. From my understanding what I consider to be Gothic Music could very well be different than what the music is today, but as with everything in life even music changes with time.

Enjoy!!

I do not argue with people when they express their thoughts on certain topics. Many times you will hear people refer to Goth Music as Dark, Depressing, Gloomy and Evil. I am not saying that I have not heard some Goth Music that could be identified with those definitions, but if a Goth Song or any kind of song comes on that I do not like I just turn it off. Without a doubt I would say there are a lot more good songs than bad. But we are just talking about my opinion.

From the moment I first heard Peter's voice (lead singer on Type O) I was hooked! I have too many favorite songs to list them all but will narrow it down to at least two! Isn't his voice spooky in a very exotic way?

Often music can alter our moods. If we are down, music can bring us up; if we are sad it can make it us happy. If we wanted to be a little wicked (in a nice way) it can help us to be that as well.

These are considered more Alternative than Goth. However, back in the day they were considered Goth because of the touch of "Punk". Regardless, I really like these a lot!!

The kind of stuff I like tends to be on the edge of being considered "goth". I like a lot of the electro bands such as VNV Nation, Covenant, Funker Vogt, Heimataerde, ect. Good lens.

Do you also like gothic folk? Bands like Faun or Mediaeval Baebes? If you haven't heard of them yet you should check them out. Great stuff.

An excellent and really visual lens with plenty of music too. For a start it is an inspiration on how much better my own music lens could be, and second I enjoyed listening to the music too. I used to regularly go to Goth music nights around London, and used to enjoy the whole set up - the music, and the clothes too...

Excellent lens! I love Evanesence, if you like them then you will probably like Within Temptation. Inkubus Sukkubus are pretty good too!

I really do agree with you. If you don't like a particular song switch off the player. As you already probably know from one or two of my own lenses, I like a wide variety of music. I even like some of the "crying in your beer" country music :) Which one I listen to, really does depend on my mood. Personally, of the music you have covered here, Amy Lee is my favorite. I think she is exceptionally talented and Evanescence has been one of my favorites, if not my all time favorite, for many years now.

I am so behind the times in music, I don't know who any of these bands are. I really am not into goth music, I think. I don't know, is Wendy Rule considered goth?

I'll jump on the bandwagon and add one of my music lenses, tho.
  • WhiteOak50 Jul 31, 2010 @ 7:59 pm | delete
I don't know if Wendy Rule is considered goth, but I appreciate you stopping by :0)
