It's a spicy Hungarian dish and it's also diverse things!

I know you know, goulash is a hot dish, originally from Hungary, made of beef, onions, red peppers and paprika powder which is digested in my other lens on Hungarian Goulash. The other definition of goulash says that it is occasionally used to mean any mixture of diverse things.  According to Answers.com, it is a mixture of many different elements; a hodgepodge.  For the purpose of this lens, I'm adhering to the latter definition; i.e. diverse things!

Goulash, the spicy dish

Goulash Genealogy

I was inspired to write this particular lens because of my genealogy. When asked about my ethnic heritage, I often referred to my "Goulash Genealogy."

A grandfather was from Szatmar, Hungary which became Satu Mare, Romania after World War I. His mother was thought to be Polish, and quite possibly Ruthenian. A grandmother was from a town in Czechoslovakia which is now part of The Slovak Republic since 1993.

Another grandfather and grandmother were from the Ukraine and Poland and quite possibly were Ruthenian.

Hence, a hodge podge of Hungarian, Slovakian, Ruthenian, Polish, Ukrainian ~ all Eastern European Goulash!
