What Is Gout?
Gout is an arthritis-like metabolic disorder that is a result of an increase in uric acid concentration from eating certain foods. The uric acid crystallizes and deposits in the joints, tendons, kidneys and other tissues, causing inflammation, swelling, and damage. The uric acid is a byproduct of the breakdown of purines in food.
Typically, those who suffer from gout are obese, prone to high blood pressure and diabetes and they may have a history of poor cardiovascular health.
