Government Grants - Who are the Eligible Parties?
Government grants are free money donations to grantseekers for worthy endeavors. The Government recognizes the need to support worthwhile programs with financial backing.
Government Grants - Who are the Eligible Parties?
These words were recorded over 130 years ago, and they have transcended that period of time. Our forefathers understood that the government of the United States was established "by the people, for the people."
Our founding fathers understood that the purpose of the Government is to support its citizens and the states in which they reside. One of the best ways that the Government aids the people of the country is through the donation of money for worthy causes. These donations are known as Government grants, and they are available for meaningful undertakings on many levels.
Government Grants - Elevate the Standard of Living
The Government grants are not dispensed in order to make people rich; Government grants are not meant to favor one portion of the population over another; Government grants are not designed as a way for politicians to repay those individuals who supported their campaign and helped vote them into office;
Government grants are not meant to support a certain portion of the business population in return for favors rendered. Government grants are an acknowledgement from the government that the grantee is intending to make the lives of citizens better in one way or another.
Government grants are the genesis upon which our country is built. By taking incremental baby steps our country was built brick by brick to preserve the rights of its citizens and to continuously improve the standard of living for the people of our Union. Government grants are the grains of sand upon which these bricks are solidly set.
Government grants are sought by certain sectors of our population for the sole purpose of improving the quality of life for the citizens of our country. Government grants improve the lives of people who are the consumers of the Government grants; Government grants improve the communities as a whole in the geographic areas for which the monies are intended; Government grants improve the quality of life in general by assisting a faction of the population through the distribution of the Government grants moneys.
Government Grants - It's Not about the Money
Grantseekers are not given Government grants because the Government, in its infinite wisdom, wants to endow people or groups of people with money. Government grants are about quality of life for people, communities and the country in which we live.
Government grants utilize money as the vehicle through which the quality of life for the aforementioned factions is improved. Government grants are not about the money that is donated; Government grants are about money as the vehicle to create an improvement in lives of its citizens.
Government grants can be endowed for people, places and/or things, as long as the outcome improves the quality of life for the people. Peoples' lives can be improved by the development of products or by the establishment of an improved service such as a better transportation system.
Government grants can improve peoples' lives by ensuring that there is affordable housing for people who are in the low to middle income levels of society, as determined by the Department of Labor.
The Government Grants for affordable housing are directed to communities through the United States Department of Housing, and these Government grants are intended to improve not only the people who directly benefit from the Government grants but also the communities in which the affordable housing units are built.
Government Grants - The Factions Who Seek Financial Support
One of the most worthy of the groups that are eligible for Government grants are non-profit agencies. These agencies have been certified by our Government as non-profit agencies because their mission is to provide a service that improves society in one way or another. The mission of the non-profit agency is not to make money, and its accounts must show that all the money that is taken in is spent for the purpose it was given.
Today, the spending records of non-profit agencies have come into question, and the Attorney General's Office of the Federal Government as well as the Attorneys' General Offices in some of the individual states are looking closely at discrepancies in the accounting records of some non-profits.
Government grants are given to non-profit agencies for the purpose of improving the human condition. The problem is that the administrations of some of these non-profits think that they own the agencies.
This phenomenon sometimes occurs when administrators remain in a position of authority in one particular agency for too long a period of time. After a while, these administrators fail to acknowledge the professional boundaries, and they blur the agency's mission with their own.
This leads to the agency working for the administrator, instead of the administrator working for the agency. It is incumbent upon the Federal authorities that they hold the non-profit agencies to the highest of standards, and that the Government grants are monitored closely so that the funds are allocated for the reasons they allocated.
Besides the non-profits, Government grants are given to schools because of the importance of the providing our youngsters with best education possible. Our country will only continue to flourish if our youngsters are given the chance to acquire an education of the highest quality. For that purpose, there are Government grants designated for the purpose of providing financial assistance for those students who otherwise would be denied the opportunity to get a college education.
There are also Government grants that are given to churches, schools, and other public agencies whose goal is to aid the greater good of society.
Government Grants - Funding Sources
Government grants emanate from the various departmental agencies of the Federal Government. These departments oversee the distribution of the Government grants dispensed under their aegis. Some of the more active departments in the disbursement of Government grants are:
o U.S. Department of Agriculture Government Grants
o U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Government Grants
o U.S. Department of Transportation Government Grants
o U.S. Department of Homeland Security Government Grants
o U.S. Department of Education Government Grants
o U.S. Department of Defense Government Grants
o U.S. Department of the Interior Government Grants
o U.S. Department of Commerce and Economic Development Government Grants
Government grants are big business for those who compete for the funding. Many of these agencies would be on life support without the assistance of the Government grants. There are many websites on which you can obtain a list of the available Government grants. If your agency is eligible for one of the Government grants, there is no guarantee that you will win one of the Government grants awards, and you must ensure that you religiously adhere to grant application requirements.
You should consider consulting with a grant specialist who can help you align your goals and objectives with the requirements of the Government grants.
