Oregon 550t is the first GPS device with a camera for hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts. It comes with built-in U.S. topographic data for the continental U.S. and a worldwide basemap with shaded relief. Users get information on national, state and local parks and forests, along with terrain contours, elevation information, trails, rivers, lakes and points of interest. Designed for outdoor use, it's housed in a waterproof casing which resists exposure to dust, dirt, and being bumped around. It's navigation features also provide users with a rugged 3-inch diagonal, sunlight-readable, color touchscreen display and built-in 3-axis tilt-compensated electronic compass, so that you always know your heading. Its barometric altimeter allows you to precisely know your altitude and changing weather conditions while you're out in the elements.
The built-in camera is a 3.2 megapixel device with 4x digital zoom, autofocus and geotagging for all of your photos. Pictures can be taken with a landscape or portrait orientation. It also has a USB port to allow you to transfer your pictures to computer quickly and easily. The Oregon 550T also accepts MicroSD cards, giving it the memory you need to store the images you take.
This device also allows you to wirelessly share your waypoints, tracks, routes and geocaches with other Oregon and Colorado users with the push of a button.

- In Search & Rescue, we use GPS units a lot, and I've heard some folks talking about this one. It's pricey but could come in very handy in our line of (volunteer) work, because we could take photos of evidence, footprints, etc. and have the coordinates recorded automatically, rather than having to mark them separately ... which occasionally people neglect to do.
