Top Job Tips for Graduates to Find Work Fast!

Recently graduated? These tips below should help you get the job that you want, and perhaps more importantly, start paying off that hefty debt!

Here you can find a collection of tips from a graduate who has been through the process and knows what its like.

Finding a jog in the depth of a recession isn't easy, and with more and more graduates coming through its not getting any easier yet!

Use these tips to get ahead!

1) Beat the Herd

Beat the crowd to secure a graduate job

Starting early and getting some applications sent off before the rest of your classmates will help you beat the rush and leave a good impression with your prospective employers.

Apply early to get your application or resume to the top of the pile - this is especially important if applying to large graduate schemes as these tend to be particularly competitive.

2) Decide what you want to do!

It may seem obvious but before students start handing out CVs, they first need to figure out what kind of job they want and how much companies offer for those positions.

Whether it is location, salary, or a flexible schedule, job searchers need to make a list of what they want and then evaluate jobs according to their list. Once students know what type of job they're looking for, have researched companies and updated their résumés, they are ready to begin their job hunt.

3) Temp in the mean time!

If your having trouble finding something you want to do, why not just find some temporary work in the mean time?

Temping can be a great way to easily add skills to your CV and quickly get work to stem any cash flow problems!

Sites like www.reed.co.uk and www.monster.co.uk can be helpful for finding temporary jobs as well as perm ones.

Also check out any local recrutiment agencies in your local town, when I was looking I walked into Manpower and they managed to get me a temp job starting the next week!

4) Take a gap year

Escape the 9-5 for a bit longer!

While you will obviously need to save some money to get away, escaping the rat race to travel the world may be a sensible idea at the moment. Heres a few reasons why:

1) Finding the job you want is hard anyway, and needs a lot of thought, a gap year can give you a chance to do this.

3) You will meet loads of new people and broaden your mind, on top of that, you will have a great time doing so!
