Welcome to my own Grail Quest

The lens is beginning to evolve. I am streaming blog entries onto the page and hope to keep a fairly up-to-date list of books I am reading at the moment. It is a pretty organic idea so I shall allow it to unfold in different ways and see where the journey takes us.

Latest book of poetry

Prynedigaeth

Poems written in 2010 plus a small collection of essays. it was a strange period of creative work and the poems are very spiritual in nature. The essays are quite eclectic and explore what I think is the inner meaning contained in certain mythologies such as Arthurian tales and werewolf mythology.
Prynedigaeth
I wanted the cover to feature some form of cross, though the work is not Christian in nature and I do not follow that faith. I felt I wanted to explore and approach the essence that is at the core of all spiritual experience. The cross is also a symbol that pre-dates its Christian symbology and is present in other cultures. This explores Buddhist thought, mythology, as well as ideas that could be read in a more main stream spiritual way.

Books that inspire a different way of looking at the world

Occasionally, you read a book that opens your eyes and expands your imagination and knowledge. In this section I will from time to time feature such a book.

And the first one is.....

and the second one is.....

One of the oldest and still one of the best books.

In Tune With the Infinite: Ralph Waldo Trine's Motivational Classic - Complete Original Text

Amazon Price: $5.99 (as of 02/15/2012)Buy Now

When you read this you realise that there were people who had worked it out a hundred years before the emergence of the "mind, body, spirit" movement of the 1990's onwards....then you ask yourself why do these movements emerge around the turn of centuries?...and why do they always seem to fade away again. When will we ever learn?

Books I would recommend

and ones I have found invaluable

I am a real book lover, maybe a book addict! This came to my attention in a small bookshop in Machynlleth in Wales when my girlfriend at the time asked me what I was doing and I replied "I'm smelling the books"!

Extreme, maybe, but old books have the scent of knowledge, of adventure, of undiscovered treasures, and there are worse things to be addicted to. In secondhand bookshops I stop and wonder who the previous owner was, what circumstances led to them ending up in a secondhand shop, how they were read and by whom..okay, I will stop there! Collating a list of really important books is, therefore, an impossibility for me, so this is just a start.....on a never ending journey. I will limit it to books that I re-read on a reasonably regular basis.

King, Warrior, Magician, Lover by Moore and Gillette
Iron John by Robert Bly
Books by Dan Millman
Books by Stuart Wilde
Books by R.J. Stewart
Sacred World by Jeremy & Karen Hayward
Coming to our Senses by Jon Kabat-Zinn ( which I am dipping into at present. I would recommend this author, all his books are worth reading).
