Welcome to my lens where we will discover together the joys of being grandparents, where older age suddenly becomes an asset. When you emerge from the years of youth and vitality, it can seem a bit of a shock to realize that your children are now independent and you no longer have the endless automatic energy when you hit life full on. As you begin to realize that you will have to work hard to maintain any sort of health and fitness it is all too easy to prefer denial about your age and pretend you are as young as the best of them. You can't kid yourself for long though. Before you know it, the grandchildren arrive and you are faced with the prospect of being revered and treated like a delicate piece of porcelain. With the arrival of the first grandchild it is the ideal time to reassess your role and mindset. Just when you thought you had successfully let go of your own children you might be required to take up your new important role as grandma or grandpa. Don't panic- you are not the first- and there are plenty of us out there still happy to talk about age because we are grandparents and know that we still have much to contribute as well as receive.
