I to remember my Grandma and Kaffee time. we did this every day at 2:00pm. Neighbors would stop by just to chit chat and drink coffee, we didn't bake so we went to the backery for fresh pasteries. We to called ours " Kaffee Zeit' Coffee Time. Nice Lens, you brought back nice memories for me. Now I need some kaffee time.

Love your granddaughter's "Fresh berries and cheesecake delux dessert." One of my granddaughters likes to watch the food network also. She is becoming quite a fine cook.

Grandma always has the best recipes. My Grandma seemed to carry all her recipes in her head and never used a measuring cup. I always looked forward to her wonderful 12 egg pancakes when she visited or when we went to visit her.

I never did understand why they call mincemeat mincemeat when there is no meat.lol. It always seemed to me that mincemeat was meat that had been minced.Curious... :)
  • mulberry Dec 2, 2008 @ 4:25 pm | delete
I've had mincemeat but not the green tomato variety sounds interesting...sometimes this winter I need to try the Swedish Toast.

I had Skorpa for the first time last year visiting a small town in Kansas. Loved it but my all time favorite would be sugar cookies fresh from the oven and of course a tall glass of cold milk.
  • stargazer00 Oct 5, 2008 @ 1:56 am | delete
I love the way this lens is laid out. I'm gonna try that green tomato mincemeat.

Oh I enjoyed this lens and the Rusk recipe I'm going to have to try. I'm sure that my kids teethed on them as babies. I want to see if I can duplicate them. They bring back such memories. For some reason, my daughter was able to get them in between her toes and in her hair too. A good trick when you are a toddler I guess lol... 5*s because I enjoyed this so much. :)

Your opening made me think of my Grandma's kitchen plates. It says, "Two things are always open - Grandma's kitchen and Grandma's arms." Tks for the happy memory jog.

Oh Barb! Since I am Swedish I can tell you that the skorpa are made just like that today too! My Mom made them too. Sometimes she made little buns and cut them in halves with a fork (!) and dried them in her wood oven. Memories - 5 stars for you!

You're the best, Barbara! 5*s! Thanks for your kind comments on my new profile page.

Hi GramaBarb, I'm a Canadian Senior too. I am impressed with your squidprolific lenses! The Green Tomato Mincemeat you included for us,I have made from my mother's recipe book. I made a big batch and canned a few jars. Our family found it too sweet so I add cooked applesauce to it. They loved it then! I have just finished my "first" lens. You'll get 5 stars from me and I want to become your fan. If you go to my site you'll even see a Lensroll for you.

    Goodies! Yummy!!
  • GrillGirl Jun 5, 2007 @ 12:25 pm | delete
What a fun lens. My Granny gave me her cookie jar just like the one above. She didn't cook. She kept junk in her cookie jar (-: Now, Grandma . . . she loved to cook and filled her jar.

Yum! And thanks for the diabetic recipes. Do you have any diabetic chocolate candy or cookie recipes for the holidays?

Your grandma is beautiful. I can smell the delicious aromas in her kitchen.
