Grandma’s Top Toy List for Christmas 2010

1.Fisher-Price Rainforest Melodies & Lights Deluxe Gym - In our family we have always been big Fisher Price fans. This Fisher Price Gym is particularly delightful. Baby's movements can set off the lights and music. There are a number of soft brightly colored attachments to catch the baby's eyes and you can play about 20 minutes of continuous music. The rainforest sound can be used to calm and relax baby. Recommended from birth although I think maybe sometime after 2 months would be better.

2.Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing - I am not sure if this is considered a toy but it is a lifesaver! As one Mom describes it -"it allows you to have a shower" It certainly often allows Mom to have dinner. My daughter has twin girls and I am not sure what she would do without two of these swings. The swing will gently rock the baby and as they begin to be able to focus will entertain. You can use this swing for newborns. Thumbs up for this Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing!

Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo - When baby is able to hold their head up this is an entertaining safe place to sit and play. There are a number of dangling objects for baby to try to bat. The baby can activate motion, music and lights and like most Fisher Price toys parents can activate some continuous music. This jumper gets a 5 star rating with comments like "the is Awesome - best jumper out there".

4.Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball Popper - This extremely entertaining toy again makes the top toy list. My four year old granddaughter had this toy in her daycare when she was a toddler and loved it. Babies as young as nine months can enjoy this Busy Ball Popper. The delight and giggles when the balls pop out are amazing. The babies never seem to get tired of trying it over and over. This Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball Popper has won numerous awards.

has been in our family for some years now and will make a return to active use with the new twins that we have. Our other grandchildren spent many, many hours playing with it. It can be placed ion the floor without the legs for babies who are not yet standing to explore. As your baby starts to pull themselves up you can attach the legs. A number of musical activities help babies learn cause and effect. It is bilingual with some Spanish on it. LeapFrog Learn & Groove Musical Table allows young babies to older children hours of entertainment.

2.Baby Alive Learns to Potty - This cute doll is more suited to the older toddler who is into learning to use the potty themselves. She has great big blue eyes that engage you immediately. My Granddaughter received one last Christmas and my Grandsons were as enthralled with her as well. They all broke into gales of laughter at her expressions. They were especially amused when she said "Uh, oh, I had an accident". She talks, she pees, and she poops. But most of all Baby Alive Learns to Potty delights.

Fisher-Price Musical Tea Set - This is an extremely popular tea set because if you tip the pot over it plays I am a little tea pot. I think it also gets top marks on its size and durability. All children need to have a tea set in their toy box as they love to make "food" for the grownups. As well as the musical teapot the set includes four teacups in pastel shades, matching saucers, a sugar bowl, a creamer, and four white spoons. The Fisher Price Musical Tea Set is suitable for children age 2 years and up.

The train pieces each have unique characteristics. It is no wonder that the Fisher Price Amazing Animals Sing and Go Choo Choo has won a number of awards and remains on the top selling list.

5..Fisher Price Learning Home -This is a favorite of mine! I love this teaching door as it spans just a large age range. It is perfect for a baby that has just started to crawl and can surprise themselves by crawling through the door and setting off some music. It grows with the child as there are so many activities on both sides. If parents get involved in playing with their child and this toy there are lessons about mail, lessons about greeting at the door, lessons about shapes and alphabet, lessons about telling time and lessons about a radio. This Fisher Price Learning Home definitely gets two thumbs up from me!

1.Melissa and Doug Deluxe Standing Easel - We have always had easels in our family. My own children had easels and my grandchildren all have easels. With the chalk board, the dry erase and the roll of paper children can take a swipe at something as they pass by. It is interesting as they grow to see the change in children drawing ability and use of colors. It is especially nice if you are going to use paint to have the tray to hold the paint and to be able to cover the floor beneath the easel to catch the drips. It can be used as a great teaching tool for children learning to spell. This Melissa and Doug Standing Easel has the durability and quality of all Melissa and Doug products. It is suggested for age 4 years and up however we have found with supervision even smaller children will be able to create on it.

I think at this age many children are exploring words and most are very interested in books. With the unique touch and talk device children can chose how they want to interact with the book. There are cool voices and sound effects. By connecting to your computer you can add up to five stories. It can also be used with headphones. The system helps children to enjoy books and to fill in those times that you just can not read to them yourself. The LeapFrog Tag Learning System makes reading a fun and enjoyable experience. It is recommended for ages 4-8 years old.

3. Fisher Price Little People Sweet Sounds Home- Young children are interested in their family and this delightful house with its Little People family allows them to mimic their own family. Sturdy, colorful and easily stored this Sweet Sounds Home has 8 rooms, fences, furniture, sounds and little people. A word of warning there are two versions of this house - be sure to buy the one without the cat as it is better built and has more activities with it. I think this reviewer had it right when she said this of the Fisher Price Little People Sweet Sounds Home "BUY IT! It will make a fantastic Christmas gift for your little girl, and you won't regret it!"

4.Vtech Kidizoom Plus Pink Digital Camera- These are great cameras and although anything pink seem to be big sellers it also comes blue. Children love to copy us and when they see us with our cameras ready to snap a picture all the time they want to get in the act. One of the reasons I love this camera is that as well as its ability to take pictures it has games that are gret to be played on a car trip or when a little quiet time is needed. The camera is rugged, easy to use and children love to see their results. The Vtech Kidizoom Digital Cameras are recommended for ages 3 years and up.

5.Razor Jr. Folding Kiddie Kick Scooter - I think these scooters are amazing. My three older grandchildren all received Razor Scooters a year ago. The three year olds received this scooter and It is astonishing to see how they have progressed in their abilities to balance and push off with increased speed. It is interesting to note that the Razor scooters are listed in the best selling lists for several models. For the young children supervision is a must. For all riders helmets are recommended. After learning the basics of balancing on the Razor Jr. Kiddie Kick Scooter your child will be ready to move on up into another Razor Scooter.

1.Transformers Movie 2 Combiner - Construction Devastator - With this year's movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the Transformers are much in demand and selling very quickly.Construction Devastator. is by far the largest of the Transformers. He is massive! One of the great features of Construction Devastator is that he can break down into 6 fully functional construction vehicles. This is perfect for boys who love trucks. Like Optimus Prime Ultimate Bumblebee, and Megatron this Transformer does not depend upon the boys having seen the movie or read the comics. These boys can make up their own imaginary battles and have hours of entertainment.

2.LEGO Star Wars Clone Walker Battle Pack - Lego continues to be one of the most popular toys for girls and boys. This set follows with the interest this year in Star Wars and Transformers. Our four year old Grandson was delighted to receive this for his birthday. However I find with all the small parts and the need for the small muscle coordination Lego is more appreciated when children are slightly older. The joy about Lego is that you add another set as you go along.

3.LeapFrog Scribble and Write - Another great product from LeapFrog to help children learn letters and words. It helps children form their letters. It engages them for a nice long quiet time. The reviews from people who have purchased are extremely positive. I think this sums it up best "Get it! You'll be glad you did! Perfect back to school, starting school toy/tool for your youngster!"

4.Nintendo DS Lite - These hand held gaming devices are very portable. They are great for travel. There are many, many applications and games available for them. It has the ability to wirelessly connect so players can pit their skills with others all over the world. One of the very popular applications for the DS Lite hand held device is the Mario Kart DS.
