Lovely lens, particularly when we have just become grandparents.
  • Aboutlowercholesterol May 9, 2012 @ 3:53 am | delete
I only have one grandchild, but treasure him dearly. I remember the impact my mother had on my son - they just adored each other, and I am trusting we will have the same relationship.
Unfortunately I dont remember either of my grandmothers at all. They both passed when I was very young.

Thank you for such a memorable lens...it says so much about the one person that has played a big part in my life... especially now that she's living a thousand miles away from where I am. "High Five" for being a grandma who's so attuned to Squidoo too! I am still learning...

Nice right up. I just remembered my grandmother.. She made me happy when I'm sad. I really love this tag line...

Grandmothers are voices of the past.

    Role models of the present

They open the doors to the future

My maternal grandmother died when I was 12 and my paternal grandmother died when I was 17. I've desperately tried to hang on to my memories of them as I've gotten older.

I was very close to my Grandma on my Mom's side. I spent a lot of time with her growing up. She was a real treasure and such a unique lady. She passed away in the late 70's, but I feel she's still with me everyday in spirit.

One of the top ten feelings you'll ever feel, is as a child going to Grandma's house for some fresh backed cookies. It's up there with your parents surprising you with a trip to Disney World, and the first time and girl/guy says they like you.
    Grandma's rock!

I was close with my grandmother before she gave up on life and died when I was 11 years old. I loved her to bit and still do even now. But boy was I angry with her when she died, the pain was immense. And then closely afterward my grandfather died both leaving me. They both had a profound affect on my life and oh how they spoiled me to bits! I ADORED THEM!

    But yeah grandmothers rule.

Very nice lens. My grandkids and I have a blast playing dinosaur tag, tennis, and riding scooters around the block (well, they ride the scooters, I walk fast and sometimes jog! :) ).

Nice lens! I miss my grandmothers. They both passed away years ago but I can still remember the fond memories that I have spent with them. I don't know if I gave them the love and attention that they deserve but rest assured that they gave me all their love. 5*

I dearly love your grandma quotes. They are awesome. My grandmother just passed away at the age of 98, and I think everyone's "Mom's Mom" are the most special grandmothers because we grow up spending most of our time with them. Thank you so much for all the grandma stuff.

I think I want to cry a little bit now... I miss my Grandma so much. After leaving Korea at the age of 6, I only had the chance to see her and spend time with her on three occassions. She passed away about six years ago at the ripe old age of 92.She always showed me so much love and understanding. Thank you for a completely lovely lens.

Isn't it great being a grandma? (even if 4 out of 6 of your grandchildren live in the same house as you)
  • purplelady Feb 24, 2009 @ 6:13 am | delete
Being a grandmother ("Mammo") is awesome. I dislike living so far from my 4, but we try to physically get together at least once a year. and the rest of the together time is done by pictures, cards, notes, calls and email (when I can get them to use it).
You have a great lens and so much fun information. Thanks for filling up some of my morning. 5 Mammo hugs, a lensroll and a fave.

You created a smile on my face, when I read this:
A Grandmother is someone with silver in their hair and gold in their hearts

that is very true. I became just today 60 years old and STILL I profit from the wisdom and LOVE of my grandmother Anna.
She simply was a great / grand / caring and loving woman :-)

So let me thank you warm heartedly for this fine lens in honor of grand mothers all over the world:
By the way I will give you 5 stars, favorited and lensrollend your grandmother lens just a second ago.
This is really a wonderful lens - I am deeply touched. Thank you :-)

I just wanted to thank you for a lesson I learned within 45 seconds of seeing this site...and to share that lesson with you..
I'm 35 with 5 kids aged 16, 14, 13, 11, & 9. All their lives, I've thought it will be my greatest accomplishment in life if I manage to raise them, and they turn out to be good people. It never occurred to me that there could be more to come after they've grown and moved out, which has saddened me at times, though I've never dwelt on it.
But seeing your site made me realize that once they've grown, I can then look forward to affecting the lives of their children in ways that perhaps my mother (who lives too far away) and my mother-in-law (who hasn't been able to provide my side of the family memories/legacies to my kids) have been unable to affect my kids.
It's a simple and obvious thought, but it took your site to show me that my ability to pass on my family legacy has yet to even begin, and that it will not be finished once my kids are grown.
    THANK YOU

Great lens! I love my grandmother and my mom. My grandmother will soon be celebrating her 100th birthday. She lives in a very nice nursing home in the same town as my mom, who will soon be 82 and lives in her own home. My mom teases that not much has changed over the years, only now, she really doesn't want to go live with her mom. :)

Another thing I think is fabulous- no matter how mad kids get at their parents, they ALWAYS love their grandparents! Yes, we are the 'go to guy' for them, they can talk to us about anything and be accepted and loved, and isn't that a great thing to be!
  • Margaret_Schaut Feb 5, 2008 @ 12:17 pm | delete
If I had known grandkids were so much fun, I would have had them first! It amazes me how much my own grandmothers formed me, what an incredible difference they made in my life. Society doesn't give grandparents nearly enough credit, nor does it show the real beauty in aging. I'm delighted that you're doing it, though. It really needs to get 'out there'!
