Restored Grand Pianos

There are basically 3 levels of a grand or baby grand piano.
The first level is the lowest quality in my opinion and you can decide for yourself but pricing usually tells all. There are many pianos built in this lower tier but they are all made in China, Indonesia, and Korea. Many of them have American and German names on them in an attempt to fool you into thinking they are not made in China etc. You can usually tell these impostor pianos by their price. Compare prices of new pianos and they will always be the least expensive pianos for sale on any showroom floor. The second level of price and quality when you compare prices at pianos stores are Japanese pianos. Yamaha and Kawai. These are generally better made than the lower tier of Chinese type pianos but they are still mass produced pianos with the exception of their most expensive models which they have a few that are hand built. The third and most expensive highest quality pianos are made in America and Germany and these are all hand made baby grand and grand pianos.. Usually you do not find a typical family buying these pianos. They are usually purchased by professional pianists due to their high cost. However, an alternative to purchasing in level one or two and not paying the high cost of level three is to buy a restored vintage hand built American baby grand piano or grand piano!
