Coolest Crochet Patterns using Granny Squares
Anyone who has seen my Squidoo Lens: Coolest Knitting Patterns using just squares and rectangles probably is aware that I have developed a slight obsession for knitting patterns that use only squares and rectangles. Its amazing to me how many different kinds of garments, bags, and really EVERYTHING that you can make with these modular shapes.
But I asked myself... "What about the crocheters?" Not being able to leave out this niche of crafters, I felt compelled to compile a list of patterns for those who crochet. And after all, isn't the granny square kind of the matriarch of the whole modular concept?
Granny squares are set in our minds with the wonderful funkyness of the 70's color palettes and hippie dippy stuff our literal grannies made for us as kids. But there are plenty of modern interpretations of these timeless crochet motifs that can serve well today. Add some Millenial Boho Chic style and it's on!

- When making a 6"x6" square for an afghan, you don't need a ruler to measure it--a $1 bill works just fine! Our USD currency is exactly 6" long :)
