Coolest Crochet Patterns using Granny Squares
But I asked myself... "What about the crocheters?" Not being able to leave out this niche of crafters, I felt compelled to compile a list of patterns for those who crochet. And after all, isn't the granny square kind of the matriarch of the whole modular concept?
Granny squares are set in our minds with the wonderful funkyness of the 70's color palettes and hippie dippy stuff our literal grannies made for us as kids. But there are plenty of modern interpretations of these timeless crochet motifs that can serve well today. Add some Millenial Boho Chic style and it's on!

This is a really clever and easy way to do a crochet square. You can keep going around and around to make it as big as you want - make a whole blanket out of one square, or many small squares. Kind of like a mitered square of crochet.
