Grateful Dead vs. Phish
Ranked #8,348 in Culture & Society, #171,158 overall
Let's keep things kind, but which band do you love more & why?
The two most loved jam bands of all time.
The Grateful Dead were the originals on their long, strange trip - plotting the course for all who followed.
Phish has been carrying the torch for many years now with many dedicated followers from tour to tour.
Many folks naturally love both, but who do you love more & why?
This is all in good fun, so let's keep it positive!
keep on truckin' like an antelope out of control
dark star crashes in the divided sky
I guess it all depends on your experience and tastes.
Both Phish and the Grateful Dead cover so much ground stylistically.
I personally think both bands reflect the times they were active in as sponges of almost all available musical influences.
Perhaps age factors in here?
Perhaps not, both bands certainly have fans of all ages.
I have my personal preference, but would rather leave that unsaid and hear from you!
This page could lead to a lively discussion, so don't be shy and offer up your take on things.
Side projects and solo projects can factor in here too.
Maybe the JGB was the best thing you ever saw?
Maybe G.R.A.B. was the coolest?
How many shows did you see?
Have any crazy stories?
I bet you all do.
I had some long, crazy nights on centered around the musical axis of both bands.
Is it all on the tapes?
Do the tapes lie?
You can't judge a show by it's set list.
Do you keep your ticket stubs?
Did you go on tour?
Did your mom drop you off at your first show?
Did you ever loose your shoes?
Did you ever wind up in jail for the night?
Did you ever fall in love?
Did you ever get in a fight?
so many roads....
let's hear from the deadicated!

- Def The Dead... The Phish were a lot of fun when I was a teen but take away all the jamming and what do you have?? Nothing... When it comes down to it The Grateful Dead j have a lot of GREAT songs.

vote up your favorites! if you get confused, listen to the music play!
no shortage of releases from these road warriors....
It's all about being there live, in the moment.
Experiencing that crackle of electricity and uncertainty.
Even the most dedicated of us can't be at a show every night, so thankfully there are a myriad of live and studio documents that enable us to relive the shows we saw or imagine what it was like to be at the ones we missed.
