Gratitude Journal

So today I was thinking about all the things I'm grateful for and wrote them down on my gratitude blog/journal. The biggest one is that I'm not homeless anymore. This really hit me this morning as I was headed to the library to work on my website. Before I went downstairs to the subway a little girl came up to me and asked me for some money. I usually try to give money when people seem like they need it, even though things are very tight right now, even if it's just some loose change.

But even though I'm never quite sure if I'll have enough money for food for the rest of the month, I felt my heart tug at me, and as I started to reach for a couple of bucks, I ended up giving a five dollar bill, which seems like a lot to me, but for this little girl and her mom... well, it meant so much more for me to give it to her. I hope they both get enough money to go wherever they are going. I hope they know they are loved. I hope they know how much they gave to me today, just by needing me. As I needed to give to them. I was so glad to be able to give to a mother and daughter who needed it, I could tell the daughter was a little embarassed to ask, but those are the people who need it the most. Those who don't ask for it. I hope we can all remember to give thanks for all that we have, we are so blessed just to live in this country that helps those that need it most.
