Halloween Graveyard Cake Recipe

Making a Graveyard cake is a Halloween tradition in my family! It seems there are many variations, but, of course, I think mine is the best! You can let your creativity flow with this one, and add some of your own "special effects".

As you will find in my recipe lenses, I use two words very often; Easy, and Experiment! Graveyard cake does take a little time to assemble, but the finished product is worth it! Do Experiment, however, with the decorations, to make it uniquely yours!

Get into the Halloween Spirit

but Don't let the Halloween spirit get into YOU!

Ingredients for your Halloween Graveyard Cake

Make sure you have the ingredients long before Halloween

Remember, this is where you can use your imagination on your graveyard cake. You may want to add other toppings

1 box Devils food Cake Mix, mixed and baked as directed.

12 oz. Oreo Cookies, crushed

6-10 Oval shaped Butter Cookies (Pepperidge Farm Milanoes OR Vienna Fingers)

1 small pkg Vanilla Pudding mix

1 cup milk

8 oz. Cream cheese, softened

Assorted tubes of Cake Decorating Gel in Halloween colors
(orange, yellow, brown, etc.)

1 cup Candy Corn or Pumpkin Shaped Candies

1 8 oz. container non dairy topping

Several small gummy worms

Putting your Graveyard cake together

Think "Graveyard Cake" and use your imagination!

Bake cake according to package directions or recipe. Let cool completely.

Take softened Cream cheese and "smoosh" with a spoon, and stir until it is not in "block form" any more.

Mix Pudding mix and 1 C milk (it will be thick)

Add Cream Cheese Mixture to pudding mixture, gently

Fold the Cream cheese/pudding mixture into the non-dairy topping, then spread on top of cooled cake.

Top with Crushed Oreo Cookies

Using gel frostings, write spooky and goofy sayings on the top half of the cookies such as "BOO", "RIP", "I.M Goulish", "B.A Ghost", "Justin Time", and "Yur Next".

Press the cookies halfway down into the cake here and there to resemble standing tombstones. Tilt a couple of them

Randomly place gummy worms around your "Graveyard"

Serves 8-12.

Happy Halloween

What Wiki Says about Halloween

Halloween (also spelled Hallowe'en) is a holiday celebrated on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints' Day. It is largely a secular celebration, but some Christians and pagans have expressed strong feelings about its religious overtones. Irish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America during Ireland's Great Famine of 1846. The day is often associated with the colors orange and black, and is strongly associated with symbols such as the jack-o'-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o'-lanterns, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies.

Great cake! I love that picture of the house, too! With the lightning bolts flashing from the attic window, it's like Uncle Fester is up there working on some experiment!

Youm...I want cake!!! It amazes me how Halloween is such a big event in the States. This is the second year I've been here for the run up and the amount of items in the shops is mind boggling!!! In the UK it's getting bigger, but not on the same scale. We'd not have a Halloween cake for example...maybe we should!! 5 stars for you!
