Television Adverts
Television adverts have been around since the dawn of the television box. Over the years they have changed dramatically trying to catch the eye of its captive audience to sell products from alcohol to aspirin, make up to moon boots.
Not everyone likes television adverts but one thing is for sure, sometimes the advertising companies do surprise us with some unique and interesting adverts that really get people talking.

A little background info
The amount of time Television adverts can be shown by commercial channels differs greatly from country to country dependant on the rules governed by their television authority.
U.S.A - 18 minutes of adverts every hour
United Kingdom - 12 minutes of adverts every hour
Germany - 12 minutes of adverts every hour
Ireland - 10 minutes of adverts every hour

My Favourite Adverts - Guinness Adverts
The brewers of the famous Irish stout Guinness have been in the forefront of advertising for nearly thirty years. The adverts they have commissioned through the advertising company they use have become iconic and much loved by all that view them.
Over the past few years most of my favourite adverts have been advertising the Guiness brand.
The below advert was created in 1999 and won the best Television advert of all time award the following year.

My Favourite Adverts - Honda Adverts
Honda were not synonymous with great adverts until more recent years as previously their adverts followed the same format as many other car companies. Nowadays Honda has become the car manufacturer to beat when it comes to adverts.
One of my favourite Honda adverts is below, its one where parts of the car move along in a jigsaw knocking each other to complete another task until the Honda Accord is rolled off the stage its on.
What is amazing about this advert is that it had minimal graphic work done and that a huge majority of what you see actually happened...not quite in sequence as they edited it but you get the picture.

Television Adverts - Summary
As you can see adverts have been around for a long time, in fact the first TV advert was aired in 1941!
It will be interesting to find out how the advertising companies plan to keep us engaged with new and innovative adverts. If the ones above are anything to go by the next decade will be an interesting time as companies jostle for space to think of amazing new ways of getting us to buy their products.
