David Florence Wins Silver for Britain
David Florence won silver for Britain after a perfect run in the slalom canoeing final at the Shunyi white water park. The 26-year-old is Britain's first slalom canoeing medallist since Gareth Marriott also won silver at Barcelona in 1992.
Florence, who only took up paddling when he was 15, came into the final in fourth place and produced a faultless run which propelled him above Poland's Krzystof Bieryt and Czech paddler Stanislav Jezek.
He was in first place until Slovakian world number one Michal Martikan claimed gold with the last run of the final.

Excellent! 5 stars from me, a great idea for a lens; last time I looked we were third which is just amazing! I couldn't believe it when David Florence dropped to second place! I thought we had the gold in the bag, and then with the final run of the final the guy snatched it away from us... Still, a silver medal is nothing to shy away from!
