Best Laptop and Desktop Computer Speakers and Bonus!: 5 Best Headphones

I love music, technology, electronics and instruments. Therefore, combining as many of those as possible brings me closer to Utopia.

I also research a LOT, which my wife and friends love as much as I do. I choose some of the best, present them, and it saves everyone a lot of trouble and money. Win-Win, baby!

I have owned these speakers and heard all of the ones I ran them against. These are BY FAR the Winners.

They may give some people sticker shock, but once you hear the difference you will see why. Also the craftsmanship, fit and finish are noticeably better, and they will last forever. I don't understand why people buy cheap stuff and then are not only are aggravated by it's lack of features and quality, but the junk breaks soon thereafter, and they end up over time spending far MORE than they would have had they just bought a good set from the get-go. AND they could have been enjoying total quality the entire time. Craziness.

So, what's the reason you need headphones? Most people don't just wear them for fashion - Explain at the bottom in the comments if you so desire. -->

Credibility

Best. Speakers. Ever.I can't very well say these are "The Best" if I know nothing about sound, electronics, music and all the criteria. So here is just some of what I am basing my findings on:

* Over 28 years of playing an instrument (the guitar).
* I have owned more instruments than I can count.
* I have owned more sound equipment than I can remember, from the cheapest 1970's generic AM handheld radio, to Some of the nicest stuff available. I had a Nakamichi Dragon tape deck and Klipsch Reference Speakers, in high school for example (pre-CD days, embarrassingly).
* I have spent 2 hours listening to $50,000 speakers (for 2) in a dedicated soundproof room.
* I have taken a 'Physics in the Arts' class, which teaches how music, sound, hearing and sound reproduction works.
* I have taken a 'Writing About Music' class, which taught me not only HOW to listen to music, but what to listen for and how to describe sounds. That will also help your vocabulary--describing the ethereal and intangible.
* I hang out with musicians and sound engineers. And "Audiophile" Dorks, who of course like to give their opinions. (Don't you hate those types?)

Here they are:

I would like to point out now that Bose speakers aren't included in my list. I believe Bose speakers to be overpriced because they spend SO much money on marketing. The quality is OK, but the Bose engineers seem to spend most of their time manipulating sound, instead of reproducing it. Think: Wave radio. It sounds great to most people, but I I just can't get on board with Bose cube/satellite speakers or paying for their huge advertising budget.

I would also not recommend buying used electronics of any sort. ALL electronics have a certain number of hours they will live, and there is virtually no way to tell where they are in said life.

thanks for letting us know about the best speakers. Good job!

Thanks! I think too many people just go to Best Buy or Wal-Mart (shudder) and make a decision there. They view speakers as just another "electronic thing" without considering what a HUGE difference they make in the listening experience and overall enjoyment. They will never know what they're missing because they'll never hear it.
I have heard things with my headphones on songs I have been listening to for decades, and just couldn't pick up. Crazy!
Thanks for dropping by and the kind words!

Wireless are great. I didn't mention that Sennheiser typically gives you about 16 feet of cord to work with which, surprisingly, isn't too much or too little. When purchasing mine, I was concerned about the quality of sound, being transferred wirelessly, but unless you are overly picky, I don't think it would be an issue for most people.

Thanks for dropping by and for the comment!

Bonus! Headphones!

Because of my frequent status of "not alone" in a small house with 2 other people, I decided to buy some headphones as well. I have them on now, as a matter of fact.

I thought I would share my findings on quality headphones as well.

Notice all the models are Sennheiser. Sony makes a good set, as do Beyerdeynamic, Grado and the like. But they aren't THAT much better and I know Sennheiser quality and service are great. Can't say that about Sony, or the others from my experience.

Life is Too Short for Crappy Speakers

You'll Need These

There is a great debate over who makes the best cables and connectors, but there is little dispute that the heavier the gauge the better, and the stronger the connection the better.

Most of the wiring that comes with computer speakers is horrible, and these companies should be ashamed of themselves for including such junk.
