Cheap Tricks to Make Your Hair Look Great!

Ranked #10,767 in Fashion & Beauty, #174,009 overall

We all want beautiful hair...

There's tons of products out there that are sold to make our hair thick and shiny, and many people buy these expensive serums and gels without much luck. Luckily, I have compiled a list of the best tricks that will make your hair look amazing! Many of these tricks are very cheap, if not absolutely free! And none of them will harm your hair.

Achieving Perfect Curls

Make your hair full of bounce without using any products!

This may sound a little absurd, but it absolutely works!
At night right before you go to bed, part your hair into five or six sections. Find a matching number of long (clean!) socks, and roll your hair - starting at the bottom - with the socks. Tie the socks off where you'd like your curls to start. It may look a little silly and it will be a little harder to sleep, but when you unravel the socks in the morning, your hair will be full of bounce and volume! (Of course, if you're a little weirded out by putting socks in your hair, you can always use long strips of fabric.)

Note:

If you think you're doing your hair justice by washing it every day, you're mistaken! Washing your hair every day strips it of the natural oils that makes your hair healthy and shiny. Wash every other day for optimal health in your luscious locks!

Remember: it's a lot healthier for your hair to rinse with COLD WATER after you wash your hair!

Household Products That Make Your Hair Look Better...

You'd be surprised how many things you have laying around your house that you can put in your hair to make it look healthier and shiner!

Beer - After you wash your hair, dilute a can of (flat and warm) beer with water and rinse it through your hair. Don't worry about the odor - it will go away as your hair dries. This will make your hair bouncy and full of volume! Do this once a month.

Vinegar - Follow the same steps as with the beer, but RINSE THOROUGHLY! If you don't rinse well, the odor will be very strong. The vinegar will make your hair very shiny and strong.

Chammomile Tea - Brew and let cool completely. Pour on dry hair and leave for 20-30 minutes. Put a shower cap on while you wait. Rinse out. This will enhance blonde hair and make it look healthier. Redheads can do the same thing with Lemon-balm tea.

Half-and-Half Creamer - Saturate your scalp with the creamer. Leave on for five minutes, then rinse. This will make your hair bouncy.

Baking Soda - Mix four teaspoons with your conditioner. Rub the thick concoction through your scalp to remove any residue on your scalp.

The woman who feeds me is constantly chucking that cammomile stuff in her hair. She says it works for her, but I prefer my own lustrous rich blackness to be tea-free.

Informative lens but did you know that actually, all you need to wash your hair is water? Just warm water with a cool rinse is enough to wash your hair, prevent the natural oils being stripped away and keep it in good condition. I haven't used any hair care products of any kind (apart from a brush LOL) for several years now.
For most people, getting through the first couple of weeks, when your head will itch as your scalp struggle to re-establish the natural balance of oils etc, is the hard part. After that, your hair takes on a much more natural look, shows its natural curls and becomes easy to handle. I wash mine with plain water when it needs it or once a week, whichever comes around first, but my hair is almost waist length, shorter hair might need more frequent washing. 5*
