Recipe For Cream Tea Cakes
This is a very old cookie recipe.
Cream Tea Cakes
These Tea Cakes were popular in many Southern homes. You will notice that many of the old recipes had no flavoring. The delectable buttery taste was considered sufficient flavor. In baking these cakes it is important to do all the greasing of pans with butter. That accentuates the buttery taste.
5 cups flour
1/2 tsp. soda
3 cups sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup cream
3 eggs unbeaten
Sift together the flour and soda. Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the eggs, one at a time and mix well. Add the flour and cream alternately. Knead to a smooth dough, adding more flour if needed. Roll thin and cut into large round cakes. Bake at 400° F. until light brown.
