The World's Greatest Investors

There are many people who have become rich from investing, but just a few truley great investors in the world who have consistently made profits over a very long periods: Warren Buffett was the richest man in the world as recently as 2008 and still probably the second richest; his UK counterpart, Anthony Bolton recently retired, but had over 25 years of market beating success and has recently come out of retirement to manage funds in China; Neil Woodford is the UK's current value investing guru and Benjamin Graham was the father of value investing Another famous Wall Street investor, Peter Lynch also wrote several essential books and articles on the subject of investing.

The great investors above have written many books and articles or have been written about a lot, but here are a few other great investment and finance writers: Peter Temple who writes for many publications including the Financial Times; Alpesh Patel another prolific writer, with many trading books under his belt and Nassim Nicholas Taleb, the writer of the Black Swan book about risk in the financial world (and the real world).

Learning from the Greats of Investing

There is much to learn from the investor gurus. Most great investors have been Value Investors as this type of investing is the least like gambling. Many investors have become rich because they were lucky or took too great a risk. In fact many famous entrepreneurs have gone bust at least once or even left a trail of failed companies before they finally made it and even then may again disappear into obscurity at any stage. Value investors do not take these risks and year after year grow and preserve their clients' money.

I have written a few articles on the strategies used and the men behind these investment ideas, but there are also many great books which go into detail about how to replicate these returns.
