The Great Outdoors
Heading for the great outdoors is becoming more popular than ever as we seek refuge from the hustle and bustle of our lives in the City.
Some of us go for nothing more than to admire the view and fill our lungs with clean air. Others go for sports activities such as hunting, fishing and mountain biking.
If you haven't yet ventured off the beaten track I hope this lens inspires you to set off in search of your own spot somewhere out in the great outdoors.
Backpacking Through The Great Outdoors
Those who love backpacking in the great outdoors would tell you how exceptionally beautiful and energizing it can be. Fortunately for us, the U.S. has some amazing trails that cater to the liking of every backpacking outdoor lover. In order to keep your hike into the great outdoors fun, you need to ensure that you make the right choices and that you are prepared for that choice. This means making sure you are prepared with knowledge about your chosen area and you have chosen the right backpacking gear for the area. Therefore, before you get ready for your adventure, try roping in another person to go with you as moving in pairs is safer, as well as more enjoyable. In case you have to travel alone, use a reliable and certified local guide to avoid getting lost or falling prey to any wild animals or accidents.
Choosing the right trail would often depend upon your personal choice of location, as well as how hard a trail you want. The Mount Whitney Trails are great for the real rough and tough people. Here, you need to have a special permit for your travels and you need to be in top physical condition, but if you go by what people say, you would get a traveling experience of a lifetime in the great outdoors of this region.
Another amazingly beautiful great outdoors spot is the Kesugi Ridge Trail in Talkeetna, Alaska. This too is for veterans, as traveling here would take you across a mountain ridge, yet the scenery is simply breathtaking and makes the effort well worth it. For those who backpack for fun more than for a physical endurance trek, there are the Hawaiian hiking trails that offer you a glimpse of paradise all year round.
The Kalalau trail, which is the favorite of millions of great outdoors fans every year, will take you to the Kalalau beach after exposing you to an eleven mile long strip of sheer beauty. This hiking trail can be part of your vacation package or chosen impromptu. Whichever way you choose, you will never forget Hawaii after you see nature from this angle.
Hiking through the great outdoors is an excellent form of vacationing that is gaining in popularity. The United States has many trails that wait to be discovered and enjoyed but you don't have to go for a few weeks. Check out the great outdoors spots in your area and go for a weekend hike!

I carried a survival book with me written by an ex- SAS soldier. I never needed it but it was nice to know it was in the bottom of my backpack should the worst happen.
