Optimal Training
http://optimaltraining.typepad.com
Optimal Training is about developing the mindset of a champion. The core of the site are the 10 Optimal Training Principles. The site breaks down the elements of greatness, and helps runners to develop the attitudes they will need to excel. Recent running news is also covered with a focus on how elite athletes think about their achievements.I should also add that this is my blog. So now you've gotta check it out!
FYI...You can also read my feature articles at The Runner's Tribe!

http://dailynews.runnersworld.com
Written and edited by Peter Gambaccini, running fans the "Runner's World" over know this is the first place to look to find breaking stories from the worlds of marathoning, road racing, and track and field. Peter scours the globe for the latest results, news coverage, and running blogs and compiles it all into a daily smorgasbord of running news. And to top it all off, he's has a "Brief Chat" with an elite athlete almost daily. This is a must-read for any track and running fan!

http://www.thefinalsprint.com
The TFS Media Network is taking running blogs to the next level. The Final Sprint is just one of multiple blogs related to running, including Summer Olympian, Her Active Life, He's Fit, and Trail Fit. Together they make an uber-blog of running and racing news. I stick with The Final Sprint, mostly, because it has a few features you won't find on other sites, including The Final Sprint Podcast and the Elite Athlete Blogs, written by athletes like Dathan Ritzenhein, Ryan Hall, Sara Hall, Kate O'Neill, Jon Rankin, Nick Symmonds, and Josh Cox.

Blogs by Great Runners
All the blogs on this lens are about running, but written by non-elite runners covering some aspect of the sport. Below are the blogs written by the runners themselves. Check out these runners' blogs to get more insight into the mental and physical aspects of what it takes to be great!
If you know of another elite athlete who is blogging, feel free to add them to the list. If you've got a running blog, but you're not an elite athlete, please add it to this list here!

The Science of Sport
http://scienceofsport.blogspot.com
The Science of Sport is just that: a blog that provides "Scientific Comment and Analysis about Sport and Sporting Performance". In other words, they break it down for you. They cover recent running news from a scientific angle (Will we ever see a sub-2 hour marathon? Does Oscar Pistorius have an advantage?) They also choose one Hot Topic for the month, and have covered such things as Beijing Olympic Pollution, High-tech Swimsuits, and as mentioned above, Oscar Pistorius. And what makes this blog even better are the highly intelligent comments!

Less Than Our Best
http://givingless.blogspot.com
This is hands down the funniest running blog I've come across. Jeremy and Ben take an irreverent look at all things distance running and they do it with wit and style. Be sure to catch their weekly special columns, Fearless Predictions, Photo of the Weekend, What They Didn't Tell You, and Weekly Worldview. Jeremy has also announced the 1st ever LTOB "Pick-n-Win Contest" where you choose the top finishers at each of the Visa Championship Series track meets. Even better, he didn't win his own contest! Someone tell that guy how to rig his results!

http://japanrunningnews.blogspot.com
Brett Larner has become the de facto source of knowledge for all things Elite Japanese Distance Running. Well, in English, at least! The Japanese take their running seriously, and Larner covers it all, from their focus on the Olympic marathon to their uniquely Japanese ekiden races. We don't hear much about the elite Japanese running scene until they show up and win the gold at the Olympic marathon, but now that doesn't have to be the case. With Japan Running News, you can stay on top of it all and be your own source of knowledge when your friends are saying "Who's that?" as the next Japanese marathoner pulls away from the field!

Runnerville
http://runnerville.com
Runnerville was started for one reason: to encourage dialog about the sport of track and field. They combine passion with irreverence as they address the major issues affecting the sport of track and field and its future. They have two Podcast series, Runnerville Weekly and The Toni and Matt Show, and they spend the rest of their time commenting on the state of affairs in running or writing funny pieces like The 11 Natural Enemies of Runners.

http://preracejitters.blogspot.com
Pre-Race Jitters is here...and just in time! So says Jay Hicks, aka The Track Evangelist and self-proclaimed "Most Outrageous Blogger" about Track and Field, who started this young but outstanding new blog. He covers the news, but in a style all his own. The real value of the site, however, comes in the opinion pieces. Whether it's writing A Fan's Track Manifesto, describing why he's got A Love Affair with the Sport, explaining why track's issues are bad, but At Least it isn't Basketball, Hicks gives track fans something to think about.

http://footloose.runnersworld.com/
Amby Burfoot was the winner of the Boston Marathon in 1968. He's currently been an "Editor At Large" for Runners World magazine for many years. Amby uses this space to put down his thoughts about the sport, his experiences in it, and current events that catch his eye.
