Martingale Collars - not JUST for Greyhounds anymore

What would your Great Dane's Collar look like?

Click here to visit GreyWolf Dog Collar Website

Martingale Dog collars are also known as Greyhound Collars or Humane Choke Dog Collar. The Martingale Dog Collar was designed for Sighthounds because their necks are larger than their heads and they can often slip out of buckle collars. These collars have gained popularity among many other breed owners in the recent past with many trainers now recommending them instead of choke chains or choke collars. These collars are fitted to the exact size of the dog's neck when the Dog Collar is pulled closed. Properly fitted, the collar will be comfortably loose when not in use.

We will custom make a Martingale Collar for YOUR dog. We have listed some of the fabrics we have, but ANY fabric you find online we will buy and make your collar with. Collars take 2 - 4 weeks to be delivered and we ship flat rate priority mail.

Sizes include:

1 inch width, 1.5 inch width, 2 inch width

Each width is available in the following neck sizes:

XSmall: 12-15 inch
Small: 14-18 inch
Medium: 17-24 inch
Large: 20-29 inch
XLarge: 30-38 inch

The standard collar comes with nickel (silver) hardware (d-rings and slides)

We can add colored hardware for an extra price. Colors available: blue, brown, red, green, orange, black, pink, purple, red, white, yellow.

- The Great Dane had a half-dozen names used for centuries in France, including dogue allemand ("German Mastiff"); "Mastiff" in English, dogue or dogo in the Latin languages, and dogge in the Germanic languages all meant the same thing: a giant dog with heavy head for fighting or hunting purposes.

- The earliest written description of a dog resembling the Great Dane may be found in Chinese literature of 1121 BC, according to an article by Dr. G. Ciaburri in a Great Dane Club of Italy publication (1929).

- The Dane was developed as a boar hound by the Germans.

Breed Specifc Legislation (BSL)

EDUCATION IS PREVENTION

Teach Children Dog Safety

** 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs every year.

** Children make up 60% of dog bite victims.

**About half of all children in the U.S. will be bitten by a dog by the 12th grade.

**Nearly 20 people die a year from dog bites in the U.S.

**Every 40 seconds someone in the U.S. seeks medical care because of a dog bite.

**70% of dog bites occur when the dog is on the owner's property.

Breed-specific legislation (BSL), is any law, ordinance or policy which pertains to a specific dog breed or breeds, but does not affect any others. The term is most commonly used to refer to legal restrictions or prohibitions on the breeding and ownership of certain breeds.

BSL judges a dog by appearance, not by temperament. What ever happened to the old saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover?"

Thanksgiving and Great Danes

Being thankful for our canine friends, should include knowing how to keep them healthy and safe over the holidays.

Visit our lens: Thanksgiving, Safety, and Your Dog to learn how to deal with Pancreatitis, Chocolate Toxicity, Bloat and Turkey Bone Ingestion.

The first American Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621, to commemorate the harvest reaped by the Plymouth Colony. The colonists celebrated it as a traditional English harvest feast, to which they invited the local Wampanoag Indians.
George Washington was the first president to declare the holiday, in 1789.

We all should have MANY things to be thankful for: family, friends, health and GREAT DANES!! See our fun Thanksgiving Great Dane designs, and let someone know how thankful you are for them AND Great Danes.
