How many times have we thought about improving health but were left too intimidated by the level of work involved? Getting started is always the hardest and normally the most time consuming part of becoming healthy. I have found that adapting a healthy lifestyle need not start with 5 mile runs and 100 push ups. By adopting a juicing regimen alone I transformed within weeks from a lazy couch potato-like creature to a man with renewed energy and a lust to get out and become physical. Maybe this lens can help you in the same way. I certainly hope so. The willpower to get up and motivated is easy when your body is fed the right fuel. Juicing gives you that fuel.

Is A Juice Fast For You?

There's a great article circulating in cyberspace that answers many juicing questions for the uninitiated among us. You can find it here. It focuses briefly on fasting, and I wouldn't mind touching on the subject to add my 2 cents.

The trick of fasting is to rid your body of toxins while avoiding malnutrition, in which case incorporating juices helps immensely. If you've been living on cheeseburgers and pizza pockets for any length of time, a fast is worth it's weight in gold.

Fasting can be safely done throughout the year, my personal regimen is to fast at least 2 times every 300 days.

It's not always easy to perform a fast as life invariably gets in the way, and committing to a complete fast will undoubtedly leave you somewhere between cranky and miserable while the toxins leave your body. It's wise then to pre-plan a fast for a time when you can be at home, or at least away from work and too much responsibility. There are some excellent spas that incorporate fasting, it only takes a bit of research online to find them. I recently traveled to Thailand for a spa retreat, where I lived on juice and sunlight for 8 days. It was a life changing experience, and BTW Thailand is one of the most beautiful countries on earth!!

A few reasons that people quit a fast mid-stream are headaches, spatial disorientation, and mood swings. When these problems come up it is extremely important to persevere as this is when most of the toxins are leaving your body. The best way to lessen the severity of these symptoms is to keep up the fast and add more juices rich in the B vitamins.

There are some great, step by step juicing fast manuals found on Amazon, either here on my lens or at the Amazon website. If you are feeling low and lacking energy, a fast may be the best thing to perk up your life!

It's almost unbelievable that juicing is still not the main delivery method for our dietary requirements when the benefits have been so well documented over the years. Everyone is so wrapped up in the "quick fix" method of getting what we want, and after all, it seems like such a chore to actually juice veggies and fruits. Microwaves, veggies in a bag, Even Mcdonalds has salads now. Why bother juicing when it takes a bloody long time and it's hard to do?

Well, here's how much time it actually takes to juice with a handy step by step process:

00:00 - clean your veggies and fruits and place them on your counter.
00:45 - Juice your butt off.
02:50 - Drink

That's it. under 3 minutes to have a healthy choice available to you. It takes you longer to wait for a double cheeseburger or a coffee at Starbucks. Give it a try sometime if you don't believe me :-)

- 1 cucumber

- 4 carrots
- 1 whole apple
- 1 cup sprouted seeds

Waterfall
- 5cm section of cucumber
- 1 whole apple
- 3 carrots
- ½ smallish beetroot

Juicing Recipes And Losing Weight Go Hand In Hand. Who Knew?

The Pros and Cons of Juicing for Weight Loss

So I'm here rather infrequently. Mostly I spend my days over at ye' old faithful Juicing For Health blog. And most days I get plenty of comments and emails that have precious little to do with great juicing recipes.

I've found that there exists an entire subculture of people interested in juicing whom also have weight loss on their mind - and that moreover they are hoping I will tell them a juicing diet can be their "magic pill" cure. Truth is, it's not a cure and juicing alone, while helpful, is only one part in the necessary weight loss steps.

Being a personal trainer I can faithfully say that if you combine your juicing with other nutritional adjustments, and adopt a work out program that suits your needs, weight loss is not only possible, it's inevitable.

In so far as weight loss, you may want to head over to the blog and check out the Truth About Abs program featured throughout. This is hands down one of - if not THE most effective systems for losing belly fat as well as details the concepts for losing weight overall. I use the program on my own clients with great success.

Another system for overall weight loss that my industry has been raving about is called the Diet Solutions, also featured on my site. This has consistently proven to work time and time again in my colleague's clients. Since I have my own patented system for overall weight loss, I don't personally use the techniques represented there, but I do know of its' value from seeing the results. Other trainers at my gym are really chiseling off the pounds and kilos of their clients. I am quite impressed.

As for juicing, well one very easy system you can use to lose weight by juicing involves 2 steps. They are easy as a commitment to losing weight. Once you have that, completing my 2 steps to weight loss are simple.

STEP 1:
Write down every liquid you drink over a 1 week period. This list will likely include plenty of sugary drinks, caffeinated beverages, coca colas, whole milks, cappuccinos, Lattes, Nestle Quicks (?) e.t.c...

STEP 2:
Replace your entire beverage assortment with juices made from your handy juicer and with the help of a good juicing recipe guide. Nothing but. When you feel like a coffee, have a juice. When you're craving a Coca Cola, have a juice. When you feel like a beer, feel guilty, do 30 crunches, and then drink a juice instead.

If you can pull this off for 3 weeks you will see a serious improvement in your weight loss goals.

So if you've ended up here at my trusty juicing for health lens, and you are looking to juice as well as lose weight, know that it is possible. You just need to head to the sites I mentioned above and get whichever program seems like it fits for you. Then, with a juicer and some fruits and vegetables, you are well on your way to shedding those unwanted pounds. :)
