Discover a Greek Mythology Tour

The mere mention of Greece brings to mind a heritage of the Olympics, Wars and of course a rich Mythological history, located all over the cvountry there are sites and places of interest that are particularly awe inspiring when you look at it with a certain amount of knowledge.

Archeological findings have been dated as far back as 8000 years, making it one of the most preserved and detailed histories in the world. A history that can be traced back to hunters in the Stone Age.

What makes the Greeks so special unlike some of the other ancient historic cultures was the historians of the time that recorded the history as it happened. Although I am afraid to say that there are minimal references to the ancient mythological creatures.

Mount Olympus

See the home of the Gods

Mount OlympusHome of the Twelve Olympian gods of ancient Greece. The legend states that the mountain was formed when the gods went to war with the Titans. You can climb this mountain as it is classed as a non technical hike, and join the estimated 10,000 successful climbs made every year.

To make the climb you can join one of the many tours starting from Litochoro to climb the 2,917 metres to the Mytikas peak, although manytours will only take you to the skala summit as the Mytikas is classed a lot harder.

The ParthenonThe Parthenon is the most famous of all Ancient Greece buildings, standing strong and tall atop the Acropolis of Athens after 2,500 years. Surviving wars, floods and countless looting, the Parthenon functioned primarily as a Greek temple, but has also experienced some time as a treasury, fortress, church and indeed a mosque.

It is now one of the of the most iconic figures of Greek, world reknowned and learnt about in schools at all corners of the earth.

The admission to the Acropolis is 12 Euros (as of 2011) and is unmissable once inside.

I think some of the mythological creatures have this resemblance with our myths in Bali. Say, this one Villa in Bali have a sculpture of half human and half snake creature.
