Cycladic Architecture

It is famous for its uniqueness and charm. In fact the rapid growth of tourism over the recent yaers has extended its reputation well eyond the borders of Greece.The exteriors of Cycladic buildings are simple and unembellished, whiteeashed, with only a few windows and a particular kind of roof, whic coems in 3 variations: inclined, pitched or vaulted. This maked Cycladic houses resemble to white cubes!
Add the painted doors ( typically the cobalt blue of the sea), windows and balconies, which contrast the start white houses, you have the complete picture of Cycladic Architecture

Lying off the west coast of mailand Greece, these islands have been greatly influences by Western Europe, in part because the Turks never managed to gain control here, except on on the island of Lefkada.

Crete Island
Crete (Greek: Kríti; Turkish: Girit) is the largest of the Greek islands and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean Sea.
Tourist attractions in Crete include archeological sites at Knossos, Phaistos, Gortys and many other places, the Venetian castle in Rethymno, the Samaria Gorge and many other minor gorges (Agia Irini, Aradena, etc). Crete was the center of the Minoan civilization (ca. 2600-1400 BCE), the oldest civilization in Europe.

Dodecanese Islands
Scattered along the coast of Tyrkey, the Dodecanese are the most southerly group of Greek islands, their hot climate and fine beaches attracting many visitors. They are the most cosmopolitan crchipelago, with an eastern influence present in their architecture. They were the last territories to be incorporated into modern Greece.
