Diversify Beyond Squidoo, Improve Lenses
Yes, it's time for goal-setting and Squidoo New Year's Resolutions again!
The last Squidoo quest in which I participated was a Five Goals for 2011 challenge, in which we had to spell out goals for the coming year.
On the one hand, I failed to achieve four of my five goals. On the other hand, I made a tremendous amount of progress and doubled my earnings from the year before.
Making goals is a good way to keep yourself focused, even if you fall short. So here's my five goals for 2012. Most of them are not Squidoo goals, since my primary goal is...

Making goals is a good way to keep yourself focused, even if you fall short. So here's my five goals for 2012. Most of them are not Squidoo goals, since my primary goal is...
1) Diversifying My Income Stream Beyond Squidoo
Create 150 money-earning articles

This year, I'm not committing myself to making a specific number of Squidoo lenses, although I'd love to reach 500 (I don't think I can -- I'm at 386 now, and I only managed to create 176 lenses last year by doing little else).I think it's time to diversify. It's not wise to have all one's eggs in the same basket. I've started branching out, but since I'm fairly successful on Squidoo, I haven't gotten traction anywhere else. It's time to fix that.
So far, I'm writing on Hubpages and two blogs with Adsense. See the RSS feeds in the sidebar for my latest posts on each of these sites!
2) Overhaul and Improve 50 Articles
Time to upgrade my old lenses with all the skills I've learned
Some of my lenses need major overhauls and complete rewrites, especially my old Squidoo tutorials and index of Squidoo modules. Others need new graphics and lens logos.

Revamping an article often takes as long as building it from scratch -- several days, if it's a quality article -- so I'm only going to commit to 50 major overhauls.
Articles Overhauled So Far:
- Greekgeek's Squidoo Stats
- 25 Funny Things on Google Maps
- Photos of Apollo Moon Landers from Space
- Squidoo Banners and Buttons
- Measuring Squidoo Success
- Niche Lensography (stealth account ;) ))

3) Earnings Goal: $1200/month by end of 2012
After spectacularly failing to meet Squidoo earnings goals last year...
Again, I'm not going to restrict myself to how I'm earning that money. I still need to take full advantage of Zazzle, and I've yet to really optimize my own websites and blogs for Adsense.By the end of 2011, I was comfortably making $700, and I was just beginning to earn real income from non-Squidoo sources.
An increase of $500 is an awfully ambitious goal, considering I only increased my monthly payouts by $200 last year! But I'm going to keep trying.
Two events should help: one of my niche accounts is ready to capitalize on The Hobbit movies coming out in 2012 and 2013, and the other niche account covers some old but popular video games that are about to be updated and re-released for XBox and PS3.

4) Take Time to Work on Home and Gardening
Just because I work online doesn't mean I forget to live HERE
My Patio Garden
(and Samhin the Cat)
It's time to replace some of the IKEA furniture I've had since I went off to college (done: see my cool new office)! Kickstart the garden yet again! Replace the old heat-sieve windows and get the attic door insulated so I'm not paying to heat the attic!
There. Now maybe I won't keep putting those things aside while trying to get one more lens published, or all the other things that keep me busy.
Besides, home and gardening provide lots of lens topics.

5) Exercise! Exercise! Healthy Habits!
The one goal I DID meet in 2011
I've improved my diet and was getting 20-40 minutes of exercise a day by the end of 2011, until I threw my back out putting up Christmas lights! I'm about healed, and it's time to get back on the bike.
Specifically, this bike:
