If you're a fan of the Green Bay Packers this is the place for you.

My View Of The Cutdowns

The Packers are actually 0-4 for the pre-season, so obviously there have been some ups and downs. Overall I think Aaron Rodgers played pretty well. Matt Flynn has played fantastic and I think deserves the second string spot. Out of college they said all he lacked was a strong arm and he seems to have that now. I think Kregg Lumpkin should be on the team somewhere. He's big and fast and can catch the ball. The first two halfbacks are probably set, but I think Lumpkin is an NFL halfback. Noah Herron has had a good camp, too. Joey Haynos had a great game on the final pre-season game, and actually looks like the best bet as second string tight end, with Jermichael Finley third. Haynos' 6'8" size seems to give defensive backs all kind of matchup problems when you can match him up with them. He seems durable with soft hands, and I think is the son of a football coach. I think Jake Allen has got to get a spot. He's big and fast and can catch the football. What more can you ask? Brett Swain also caught 3 passes in the final exhibition game and returned two punts. You can't have too many good wide receivers in the Packers' system. Michael Montgomery is looking good at defensive tackle. The linebackers are very deep. White, Bishop, Hodge and even Lansanah all played well enough to make the team. So hopefully the Packers will make some good decisions on the cutdowns. It's a tough schedule, but this could be a very good football team.

Green Bay Packers Fan Club - Brett Favre's New Bowflex Body

Brett Favre, Brett Favre Family, Bowflex, Bowflex Revolution

I've followed Brett Favre all of his career and I've never seen him in such terrific shape as he was this year, his final year in the NFL - maybe. He looked like he could play another 10 years even though he was 38 years old, pretty old for a pro football player. But he had one of the best seasons he ever had in his whole great career, possibly finishing up as the greatest quarterback of all time. He seemed to be stronger than he'd ever been, and it had greatly improved his play. And it turns out that Brett had been working out on a Bowflex machine. The Bowflex machine provides a complete bodybuilding, weightlifting workout in one compact machine from the well respected and known Nautilus company. This works for men, women, and teenagers. If you want your own Bowflex machine, so you can be just like Brett Favre, click the link. This is from Amazon.com which has all kinds of used and new books and just about anything at great prices, so if you don't like that you might find something else you might like!

Green Bay Packers Fan Club - Packers Draft & New Free Agents

I think this was a good draft. Two good young quarterbacks. Brian Brohn even looks a little like Brett Favre. Matt Flynn is good but needs to work on strengthening his arm with dumbbell exercises and weight lifting. A good young tight end. A big, fast wide receiver, Jordy Nelson, who caught 122 passes last year in college, and another young wide receiver, Brett Swain, who has gotten better every year. A big, fast cornerback, Patrick Lee, who might move Jarett Bush to safety. Two big offensive linemen with a lot of upside potential, one known especially as a guy to open holes for the running attack and the other an excellent pass blocker. And a big defensive end who can rush the quarterback and is likely to keep improving. This guy could become another Aaron Kampmann in time. This is pretty much what they wanted and would seem to have filled all the holes they had. Brett Favre is gone, but hopefully this team, 13-3 last year and divisional champ, will compete for the title again this year!

Whatever you say about Ted Thompson, I think he is one of the best personnel guys in the NFL and still learning. Then Ted followed up the draft with some good free agent acquisitions. Two good long snappers to compete for that job. A center listed at 6'1 313 who is also a good athlete. Wide receiver Jake Allen, 6'4 190, who runs the 40 in 4.5 and caught 61 passes at Mississippi State last year, and is known as being big, fast, with great leaping ability. And then Joey Haynos, 6'8 260, who caught 31 passes at Maryland last year and 37 the year before. This guy was a former basketball player and has very soft hands. Just think of the matchup problems he could create for defenses. As a third string tight end, bring him in when you need that first down for five or ten yards. He could go down the field on a buttonhook or slant enough for the needed yardage and the quarterback can hit him high, where hardly any linebacker or defensive back can cover him. He could be a good target for red zone situations to get the ball in the end zone. You might be able to use him to on special teams. On extra points and field goal attempts by the other teams have a couple guys try to get some penetration in the middle in front of him and then Haynos jumps up with his arms up to try to block them. And if you've got 4.5 speedsters Brett Swain, 6'1 200 out of San Diego State who caught 58 passes there last year, 10 his final game, and Jake Allen on the bench, when the other teams' cornerbacks start getting tired bring in those guys rested off the bench to go all out to get open and you just might get some big gainers. Another player added is big defensive tackle Fred Bledsoe, 6'3 330, who might replace the departed Corey Williams in the defensive tackle mix.

Some people wanted the Packers to draft some running backs, but the running back corps could make improvement if Corey White, who was on the practice squad last year, or undrafted free agent rookie Mike Anderson moves into the starting lineup at fullback. Corey demonstrated some running ability last year in exhibition games and can also catch passes. Mike Peterson, 6'2 250, comes in as a 26 year old rookie, but is an impressive physical specimen and runs a blazing 4.5 40. Peterson can also play tight end. Kenny DeBauche from Suamico, Wisconsin and UW-Wisconsin - Madison has also been brought in to battle for the punting job. He had a solid 42.5 yards a punt average throughout his four year college career, and is said to be a good directional punter. Now if they can get Ryan Grant signed to play halfback I think they can have a good year ahead. I'm getting excited about the season ahead already!

Green Bay Packers Fan Club - Brett Favre's Catholic Faith

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CNS)- Most wins by a starting quarterback. Most consecutive games played by a quarterback. Most touchdown passes thrown. Fans of Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre relish counting the number of NFL records their hero owns. But Favre's wife Deanna, a breast cancer survivor, finds comfort in counting her blessings.

The football star's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She spent four months undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The following year, after her last radiation treatment, Deanna was declared cancer-free. She says the life-changing experience brought her closer to her husband and her Catholic faith.

"I just feel like, with faith, it helps me see the good in everything," Deanna said in a telephone interview with The Compass, diocesan newspaper of Green Bay.The Favres are members of St. Agnes Parish in Green Bay during football season and St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Hattiesburg, Miss., during the off-season. Brett and Deanna both grew up in Kiln, Miss.

Since overcoming breast cancer, Deanna has become a spokeswoman for breast cancer prevention. She founded the Deanna Favre HOPE Foundation in 2005, which provides grants for uninsured and underinsured women battling breast cancer.

Deanna's latest fundraising effort is the Oct. 1 release of an autobiographical book, "Don't Bet Against Me: Beating the Odds Against Breast Cancer and in Life," which she wrote with Angela Hunt.According to Deanna, stepping into the media spotlight wasn't something she wanted to do but she believes it was part of God's plan.

At the time she was diagnosed, she and Brett were dealing with several family tragedies, including the death of her younger brother and Brett's father.Deanna also quickly learned that dealing quietly with her personal struggles wouldn't be possible. She resented the fact that her diagnosis made front-page headlines but she also came to understand that good could come from the publicity.

She began receiving letters of encouragement from women around the country. She also received letters from women saying they were motivated to get breast examinations after hearing about her.She said for that reason alone she thinks her story was meant to be public.

Today, Deanna said her views on life have changed. She no longer takes life or relationships for granted, and she cherishes every day with Brett and daughters Brittany, a college freshman, and 8-year-old Breleigh.

To date, her foundation has raised about $500,000. Part of the book's proceeds will go to the foundation. The book, "Don't Bet Against Me," released during breast-cancer-awareness month, not only details her battle with cancer but tells how she coped with other life challenges, including a pregnancy at age 19, single motherhood and a rocky relationship with Brett because of his addiction to prescription painkillers.

Their Catholic faith was a key factor in Brett and Deanna's decision not to have an abortion when she became pregnant out of wedlock following her second year of college."We were always totally against (abortion)," she said, adding that putting their baby up for adoption was also not a consideration.

Deanna said she "knew premarital sex was wrong, but for whatever reason" did it anyway. "I knew I would keep the baby," she said. Having Brittany meant that Deanna had to put her career goals on hold, but she said she was determined to do whatever she could to bring her up.

During Deanna and Brett's on-again, off-again relationship during college and his early NFL career, Deanna said she often turned to prayer. The couple married in July 1996.

Today, Deanna describes her relationship with Brett as stronger than ever."All the stuff we've been through over the years has molded us into two different people. It's awesome to think where we started and where we are now," she said. "Our relationship has gotten to a much stronger point, a deeper love; we have so much respect and love for each other."

"Brett is a completely different person and I can see the power of prayer in just that. It's changed our lives, our family."

Deanna said she still prays for her husband for a lot of different reasons and in particular she prays for his protection on the football field each week.

Green Bay Packers Fan Club Editorial - Brett Favre Retires

Brett Favre, Brett Favre Family, Bowflex, Bowflex Revolution

It was a sad day for Green Bay Packers fans when Brett Favre announced his retirement. It was about the time when Brett Favre arrived in Green Bay when the Packers started winning. And you could count on Brett being in the lineup every week for years and years. You know that that's a position you take a pounding at, and that Brett must have played through a lot of injuries over the years. You could always count on the Packers scoring some points when Brett was in the lineup - usually more than the opponents. He provided real leadership. He was a player that Vince Lombardi would have loved - who shared the belief that "winning was the only thing" that should motivate pro players and managers. We're going to miss you, big guy.

About rwbovee

Hello world. I'm a big fan of the Green Bay Packers. Have been all my life. I remember watching Paul Hornung, Jim Taylor, Bart Starr, Vince Lombardi and others on television as a child. I was able to get an autographed football card from the late great defensive tackle Henry Jordan. Recently I was able to meet Brady Poppinga, Packers linebacker, when he appeared for a charity event in my home town of Coloma, Wisconsin.
