Easy Green Cleaning Recipes

I think "living green" is something that is very important and not a passing fad. Taking care of the earth and not abusing the planet and the resources that are at our disposal, to me, is the ethical thing to do.

One easy way to "go green" is to clean with environmentally friendly products. These green cleaning recipes are fun to make and presents you with an easy opportunity to lessen your negative impact on the environment.

Natural Laundry Powder Recipe

How much laundry do you do? I do several loads a week which does take its toll on the environment. I try to help by using natural cleaning products either that I make myself or buy. Granted, I'm not perfect at this. I maybe use natural or homemade laundry soap about 50% of the time. But it's better than 0%!

Natural Laundry Powder Recipe

Mix equal parts powdered castille soap (I grate a bar of castille soap), washing soda (Borax), and baking soda. If you would like to scent your laundry powder, I like to use lavender because it has a nice clean scent. Just mix ten drops of the essential oil for every two cups of laundry powder.

I think it's a great thing to do!

Divna says:

Going green is becoming a necessity. Otherwise, we suffocate in our own toxins and pollution.

I don't think we need to.

Natural All Purpose Cleaner

This is one of the simplest cleaners you can make. Put it in a spray bottle and use as you would any other all purpose cleaner. It's great on every surface including glass and your counter tops.

Just mix equal parts white vinegar and water into a spray bottle. To be extra green, use washable cloths instead of paper towels! You can mix in a few drops of essential oil, too. I like lavender, tea tree oil, and grapefruit. However, my favorite is grapefruit - it has a very clean scent. Lavender and grapefruit make a nice mix, too. Just mix two drops of each.
