How can someone tell whether cookware is green? Many times people interchange words such as green, socially responsible, eco friendly, energy efficient, and so forth. Therefore, how can we tell the difference when we want to purchase green cookware?

If we go to the store to buy new green cookware, we want to know that we are buying responsibly rather than just going by a sign that tells us the cookware is green.

The first thing to look at is the material of the pan. If it is recyclable, then we are on the right path. Items made out of glass or metal are among the easiest cookware to recycle.

Another thing to consider is the cookware itself made of recycled material? Check for signs that indicate the manufacturer uses recycled material to make its product.

Many people look at the manufacturer to judge whether a product is green. Do they practice green manufacturing? Do they dispose of products in an acceptable manner or dump their trash in the river?

Another consideration is whether the cookware is energy efficient. A great way to reduce carbon footprints when purchasing cookware is to use glass or copper.

There are a number of factors to take into consideration before deciding a product is green. If the product is recyclable, made of recycled material, and the company that makes it practices green manufacturing, then we can pretty much determine the product is considered green. Then we know we can safely buy our green cookware product.

I had not heard of green cookware - what a great idea. Although most of the cookware that we have once belonged to my grandparents ( so they are kind of green since the same set has been used over 50 years) we have several newer non-stick frying pans that need to be replaced & I'll have to made sure that I make sure that they are eco-friendly.
I try to be green when ever I can. Great info!

Green cookware certainly is a recent concept that we are all learning to live with. Whatever we can do for the environment is worth the time and expense.

This should be a popular topic! I don't know if my set is green or not, I've had it for awhile, but I'm willing to bet that it will last a lifetime which is, I think, definitely a green feature.

The topic seems to be growing in popularity. When I started my living green ideas website, there wasn't that many sites/lenses, but now the idea seems to be picking up steam.. Glad to see that interest growing.
