The Toyota Prius is the most well known hybrid car on the market today. Accounting for nearly 75% of all hybrid sales, the Prius surpasses all other hybrid cars in efficiency at the moment. A combination of gasoline-electric power gives this car an estimated 45 mpg highway. Others say that you can get even more than 45 mpg in some cases.Frequently topping almost every fuel efficiency article in existence, you can bet that you'll make your money back in gas savings by investing in a Prius.

A word of caution for hybrid review articles!
Some hybrid review articles compare the efficiency only to the non-hybrid version. For example, the Chevy Tahoe made a huge improvement when it produced the hybrid version of the Tahoe. However, the hybrid Tahoe still is not very efficient at all next to the Prius.
Non-Hybrid Gas Sippers
Hybrids aren't the only cars that are gas efficient. Many smaller cars really don't use much gas, like the Toyota Yaris, the MINI Cooper, Honda Fit, Volkswagen Passat Wagon, and KIA Rio.

- We're going to be in the market again near the end of the year so I'm forwarding this one to my DH. All good to know. I'm not surprised to see the Lamborghini as one of the worst on fuel economy.
