Green Jobs with a Future
There is a growing demand for careers in earth-friendly fields! There will possibly be nearly 1.2 million new eco-jobs by 2012. If you have that "Green Thumb" or would like to help out more with our earth and nature this career may be for you. It is also never too late to start a new career and join the united team of "Tree Huggers" for a nice paycheck to come and a future of protecting the earth. Below is a list of green jobs, their annual income, description and how to land it.

Eco Responsibility Marketer
Average Annual Income: $95 000You will be a promoter for certain companies and publicize their "greenness. You will also be in charge of making sure that all packaging, ads and websites are accurate. Motivating people to buy environmental friendly products!
Why?
In this day and time, there are too many companys "green washing" and making wrong claims to people, to persuade them to buy their products. False advertising needs to be prevented!
How to get the Job:
You will need experience in communication, marketing and public relations! You will also need the ecological background!
There are webinars through college to learn how to promote a company's ecological efforts.
Sustainability Manager
Average Annual Income: $82 000You will learn to explore some more energy efficient resources, to help your company have less impact on the planet. Launch some new ideas in the matter of recycling etc..
Why?
Going more environmental conscience and green will help your company slash costs and reduce the reliance on scarce natural resources.
How to get the Job:
You will definitely need at least some business experience! Get some insights by joining an environmental group or an internship with a "green thumb" project. It is very important to be creative and develop ideas. Green experience is a big plus to land this job!
Carbon Accountant
Average Annual Income: $80 000You will be in charge of measuring and tracking the production of greenhouse gases in organizations or for private clients. You will need to keep up to date in "Industrial Relations". The field changes quickly!
Why?
It started to be mandatory for utility companies to check and start reporting their emissions in 2009. Federal Agencies need to cut down on their greenhouse gas output in order to prove that they are reducing their carbon foot prints. This will result into more federal contracts for them.
How to get the Job:
You will need a degree in science, math or accounting and a knowledge of emissions auditing.
Green Event Planner
Average Annual Income: $77 000You will be involved in and planning all sorts of low environmental impact events such as parties, weddings, conferences, trade shows and business meetings.
Why?
Being environmental friendly is getting more and more popular. People tend to give more attention to green and earth supporting events. Memberships have more then tripled in the Green Meeting Industry.
How to get the Job:
You will need to have a degree in Event Planning, Hospitality or Management. Real life experience and a background of hosting is a big plus! Join a Green Group or sign up for some earth friendly oriented workshops!
Urban Forester
Average Annual Income: $55 000You will be the caretaker of plants, lawns and trees in forests, parks and along the streets of the city. You will be in charge of making sure that sick trees will be trimmed, removed etc. so they will not become hazardous.
Why?
Trees are a very important factor for our environment. They soak up carbon dioxide, they give out fresh oxygen and can cut heating and cooling bills by up to 10%. There are some very substantial budgets to promote urban tree care.
How to get the Job:
You will need a background of biology, urban planning or environmental science. A Certified Forester Credential is very necessary in this Job. Volunteer for some Green Groups, in particular the Arbor Day Foundation, to get some insights and experience.
