Creative Terrarium Ideas With Simple Terrarium Bottle or Terrarium Plastic
The life cycle of plants and your experience with them can make exotic homemade terrariums creations that can grow or last for days, weeks or months together. If you design the homemade terrariums correctly and utilize the techniques, it can even last for years.
Remember the complication of a stringent environment, you cannot soak the Wardian glass case or cloche with too much water, neither can you afford an abnormal growth that outgrows the jar its birth place. You possible cannot keep relocating and migrating to different jars and locations if the growth is dense and populated. Besides, you may find the shifting difficult without really breaking the jar.
Indeed, terracotta plants or urn plants cannot replace the grandeur of orchid terrarium, turtle terrariums or carnivorous plant terrariums. Neither can a delicate flower vase create the magic of orchid terrarium or win accolades like mushroom terrariums .A terrarium is just not a garden with flowers but a beautiful collection and symphony of miniature plants grown in an enclosed, or partially enclosed container.
A homemade terrarium is also not a menagerie of plants and animals confined to a small space. For instance creating a terrarium filled with orchids, ferns and mushrooms require some imagination and art. Give a free hand to your creativity and craftsmanship, let the design contemplate a dream come true on the small floral landscape, a complete eco-system.
Even a funky container jar or a bottle can become a home to live terrarium plants. You have a wide choice of containers ranging from fish bowls, soup bowls, vintage wine bottles and aquariums.

How to Make Orchid Terrarium?
Homemade Terrarium Orchids
Homemade Terrarium Orchids
Orchid Terrariums
Growing orchid terrarium is a creative way of decorating home with exotic flora and can be a lot of fun. Orchid is an elegant and exotic species that comes in hundred different varieties, but obviously one needs to take care in selecting the dwarf species.
The science of terrariums allow you to cultivate plants which can sustain in a high degree of humidity inside the container, they are more likely to perish in otherwise dry and sunny weather outdoors or a snowfall. The eco-system of the terrarium is a wonderful concept, once the plants grow and adapt to the environment in your orchid terrarium garden, the terrarium begins a life cycle and the rules of its own through recycling. The natural recycling of the orchid plants free the moisture from its leaves, which then condenses on the glass due to an atmospheric phenomenon, and recycles back to the soil. This eco-system allows the terrarium to go for weeks without watering. Isn't that astounding and wonderful?
The best choices for orchid species are the species that can bloom for more than a year. The perennial is more suited for such an ethereal and terrestrial climate. This way, the orchids can tolerate more moisture and bear less light than other types. They should also grow synchronously with other plants that are just great in terrariums like the varieties of ferns and moss. They should obviously not outgrow and the correct size is a must.
The selection of a terrestrial orchid can be done by judging the roots and leaves. Such orchid plants roots are thick and hairy, and the leaves are wider.
It is best to understand that terrariums are closed eco-systems, the entire ingredients viz- the moisture, oxygen and carbon dioxide are gradually and optimally recycled so that the terrarium habitat can sustain by itself.
Make sure that you use good pasteurized soil for growing orchid terrarium in this environment, it is essential to keep the orchids away from disease and fungus which is a common issue with the live terrarium plants. If your orchids get infected you will have to treat the plants and sterilize the habitat.

Tips to Creating Turtle Terrariums
Small Terrarium Plants in Turtle Terrariums to Simulate Turtle Habitats
Turtle terrariums are turtle habitats; hence the environment should be such that it recreates the surroundings of the life-cycle of turtle. You need to understand the needs of the turtles, if the animal is not happy it will perish soon which is the reverse of what you want. You can simulate the environment by designing living spaces of land and water which is favorite to the turtle.
Turtles love to swim in clear water, use a filter in the turtle terrarium to clean the water and provide oxygen. In their natural habitats, turtles spend most of their time swimming. Turtle terrariums should be large enough so that the animal does not feel confined with the lack of space. Be sure of the needs of turtle, use salt and stones to recreate the surroundings and turtle habitat. Without overdoing, and using the chemicals; keep the water free from bacteria and infection. The last thing you may want is a deceased turtle. It is a feast to eyes watching the turtle swim in clear water.
Turtles require using land, hence create a small sea- shore with sand dunes, live terrarium plants and stones for it to sun bathe. If the turtle terrarium does not have enough light, use artificial light to simulate sun-shine so that your pet turtle can enjoy its sun-bath. Turtles love to bask on the sun, so provide a landscaping near the water feature, with a nice structure of woody plants, weeds and stone so that they can easily crawl out of the water and dry themselves. A small cove or shelter is a good idea where they can creep and sleep comfortably. Lastly, a companion in this homemade terrarium is a good way to keep the turtle happy provided there is enough space.
Terrarium verses Aquarium
The Aquarium is undoubtedly the most convenient, ubiquitous "fish-tank" a familiar household item for people, although it has undergone many changes over the years. With the invent of latest technology, it has slowly evolved in parallel with the improvements in technology of the glass panes, the aesthetic, silicon-sealed tanks available today. The Aquarium comes with "aqua", hence water is an essential part of the aquarium.
The Terrarium combines life on land and it can have a theme of desert or savanna. A terrarium can imitate a temperate woodland habitat, of the humid rainforests that is similar to a jungle like habitat. The Terrarium can be enhanced with small rocks, pebbles, leaves, water feature and soil. The terrarium is a mini garden and eco-system where a natural water cycle occurs within the environment by condensation and precipitation. Many kinds of plants and animals can adapt to this habitats.
Would you like to have a terrarium or go for an aquarium?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byThe aquarium because it is undoubtedly the easiest and the most popular among the pet owners and the general public is familiar with it for generations.
turtleface says:
Truth is I've had both and really have enjoyed both. Currently I live in a small place with lots of window but not much area to put things. So I'm looking more at doing windowfarms. But, I've had salt and fresh water aquariums and the terrariums are great because they serve their purpose too.

I must re-visit and see what kind of things I can buy or make (I'm very clumsy, so may be best I buy much of it, admittedly). Oh and I think I'll feature this one of your on my 'Squidoo people with a good heart' lens (if you wish another, no prob). Fondly, Rose
