Green Nail Polish

Essie is a New York brand, founded about 28 years ago by Essie Weingarten.

She initially sold to make-up professionals who liked the unusual colors and the chip-resistant formula of the nail enamel.

The Essie winter 2009 collection- Mint Candy Apple nail polish is their current bestseller.

It's best worn with shorter nails and is great if you tend to wear cool colors

On the right is a screenshot of Karen Gillan (who plays Amy Pond, the new assistant on Doctor Who) on the Graham Norton Show.

She's wearing dark bottle green nail polish, which goes really well with her off-white dress and red hair. If you are a red-head, this colour of greem is especially flattering.

OPI is a family-owned business that was founded in 1981 and focuses just on producing nail varnish.

They do a variety of greens - if your coloring tends to the spring/autumn range (in other words you look better in warm colors than cool colors), you might want to try the OPI Lime Green nail polish.

Lauren Conrad is wearing Jade Green Nail polish (most probably Chanel's version, which has sold out).
