Green smoothies are basically just fruit smoothies that contain fruit, water, and leafy greens or green herbs such as lettuce, parsley, or even carrot tops! A green smoothie is a whole food drink, rather than just juice. There are many benefits to consuming a whole food drink over a simple juice. With a smoothie, you get ALL of the food, the nutrients, and all the insoluble fiber. All the nutrition, flavor to fill you up, and insoluble fiber to keep your digestive track clean!
They also fill you up in a healthy way, making them great for breakfast and snacks. And the oddest thing about green smoothies is that they can help put weight on to underweight children or adults, AND green smoothies can help both children and adults lose weight safely! Green smoothies are a healthy addition to any diet, and will help bring your body into balance, no matter what that means for each of us individually.

Little stuff that makes a difference!

  • If you want a creamy type smoothie, add banana or mango as part or all of your fruit!


  • If you use banana, your smoothie will solidify as it sits, into a pudding like consistency. Different texture, great taste! Eat with a spoon, or put back into the blender.


  • Feeling dry or staticy, add a tablespoon of raw coconut cream to your smoothie!


  • Craving potato chips? Add a stalk of celery to your smoothie! Celery is full of naturally balanced sodium...just the salt your body is needing!


  • Feeling a bit run down? That stalk of celery will help oxygenate your blood, waking you right back up. No chemicals needed, and no drop when it runs out!

Green juice is much easier to drink. I really don't like chunky drinks!

Green smoothies are SO much healthier. What is the point of getting the nutrition unless you are getting the fiber with it?

Green smoothie! I blend mine up well in my Vitamix and so I still get the pulp from the veggies but it is a smooth drink too.

I prefer smoothies to juice and have at least one smoothie every day. These mostly contain greens of some sort. Right now, I have Kang Kong for today's smoothie. The fibre is important in my opinion.

It can really wreak havoc on your blood sugar if you just drink the juice. You really do need the fiber to go along with it.

  • Don't forget your art classes and color wheels!
    RED + GREEN = BROWN
    Great experiment for the kids, not so appealing to look at. It still tastes wonderful. Hide it in a dark colored glass and enjoy!


  • Rotate your greens! If you eat the same kind of green over and over, you will naturally lose your appetite for it. Check out Victoria Boutenko's material for a detailed explanation.


  • If your greens are wilting, treat them like cut flowers! Trim an inch or so off the bottom, and put them into water. They will suck up the water and perk right back up!
