I didn't start liking them until I was an adult because as a kid all I knew was they came out of a can and were gross. My kids have never tasted canned veggies and they all eat fresh and frozen without a problem.

I love all vegetables except the cucumbers.
Unfortunately I have some problems to digest it... and I'm sorry about this because it is a very healthy vegetable.
But I am even more sorry I cannot eat the raw peppers that also give me some trouble at stomach, especially if I eat them at evening...
However one of my preferred vegetables is the fennel, that is not listed in this lens.

Every single vegetable is fantabulous, as long as it's not overcooked and mushed out. Green vegetables are the best! Loved this. And, by the way, I don't know how anybody can ever even live if they "don't eat vegetables." What a terrible and unhealthy existence. "Squid Angel blessed."

If you've never tried 'em, you are in for a real treat for your taste buds. Don't be put off by the charred look... grilled asparagus are absolutely amazing.

I just discovered these bags of brussels sprouts at Costco that are the best ones I've ever had. Anyway, gave your lens a blessing. Thanks for promoting veggies, we all need to eat some more of them instead of junk food. :)

Love all the same green veggies that you do and I have two more that I use to make a green veggie health drink every morning - kale and collard. Either of those make a delicious healthy morning 'smoothie' using nothing more than diluted tomato juice, splash of hot sauce and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar! Try it sometime...it is delicious.

What a great list. I also like raw okra for it's digestive benefits. It's becoming an increasingly popular vegetable because it soothes the digestive tract and promotes regularity. I too like fresh, sliced cucumbers very much. I usually just sprinkle them with sea salt, but will also try them with pepper.

What a great tribute to the honourable green vegetable. You have a very good list, one I would have to agree with as we love our vegetables. We grow our own and buy organic, we get a vegetable box delivered every week from an organic farm scheme here in England, it's so nice having different veg to try. Tasty lens, I really enjoyed it.

I love 'em all. We discovered collard and mustard greens this winter, and I wondered where they've been all my life. So good! Last week, the farmers market had the most beautiful pearl white turnips I've ever seen, small and tender, not those big tough things you often see in the grocery store, and complete with their gorgeous green tops. I bought them, chopped them, cut the greens to ribbons and sauteed them altogether with a little onion in extra virgin olive oil, and they were fabulous. Greens. Good.

when I was little, I hated bitter gourd... its pretty bitter like its name says... but then when I came to India years back, I started liking them because they were cooked in a way that their bitterness was gone... sometimes, we may not like veggies because of how they taste when cooked one way but may love them when cooked another way :)

Love veggies, pretty much any way -- but my preference is chilled with lemon and a little olive oil and black pepper. I'm a big fan of brussels sprouts. I can buy them frozen in a steam-in bag which allows me to have them pretty often. Lovely lens. I'm reading it at 5 a.m. but it's still making me want a big helping. I'm lensrolling to my Couch Potato Gardening lens.

I Love green veggies ~ though I have replaced iceberg lettuce with more flavorful & nutritious lettuces, and I do spinach very sparingly ever since I had a pet Iguana & found out that spinache takes up to 72 hours to digest & can actually kill your Iguana ~ so, since Iguanas can't have spinache, I've become a big fan of kale & collards, which are better for our digestive tracts & Kale has like 10 times more nutrients than any other green & tastes even better than spinache lol
    ~ Blessed >*

4 out of the 10 veggies you listed here I haven't tried, don't eat often or don't like- lettuce (only in salad if I eat it at all), brussel sprouts (tried it and didn't like it), asparagus (never tried it), and cabbage (it's just okay- when it's cooked). But all the other veggies, I like and try to eat fairly often. Broccoli is my absolute favorite green veggie.
  • BarbRad Sep 10, 2010 @ 8:14 pm | delete

I love every vegetable you've presented except...you guessed it...cabbage's little brother...Brussels sprouts. I'm usually able to convince myself that things that are good for me are delicious. But so far, the only way I can get Brussels sprouts down is by holding my nose.
Notwithstanding the sprouts, a very very tasty lens!

Wow! I love your lens. I don't usually have veggies for meals but with all these information, I can definitely say that I need to have this on every meal. We eat veggies not because we want it but because our body needs it. Am I right? I am not a veggie lover but with this useful lens, I will definitely be vegetarian. (Not really) :)

What a really great lens - loving your art prints!

Congrats on a purple star from a fellow winner this week! :)

Just one point. You couldn't MAKE me eat iceberg - its so completely tasteless. I'd suggest what's missing from this list is rocket, salad de mache and watercress - sooooooo much nicer as green leaves in a salad. Plus I agree bok choi is great too - and I have three of the above waiting in my fridge for weekend meals!.

Brussel sprouts are one of the few vegetables I don't eat, but everything else on the list looks good. I wish I didn't have to rely on frozen vegetables as often as I do. From late October to April, there's no good fresh produce here in New England, so it's mostly frozen for now. We're halfway through. I'm lensrolling this back to my winter root veggies lens, you've picked some good ones.

Oh, yum! I love all veggies and the green ones are very tasty. I love that you featured salad spinners because they are awesome. I never thought I'd love or use mine as much as I do, but it rocks!

I could have sworn I was here before! But the stars weren't all lit up, so I guess I may have forgotten to rate. Oops! But I did add this to my Top Ten Lists lens plexo a while back. And I still don't eat enough of these things. I'm off to the grocery store in a few minutes, though, and I'm going to buy broccoli and cabbage and lettuce in your honor! :)

I'm with you, Wendy! You've put together a delicious lens, here! Over the years, I have trained myself to appreciate them all; all except Brussel Sprouts. Yes, I know they're good for me and are of the same family as cabbage and broccoli, both of which I love. But when it comes to Brussel Sprouts, I guess I would have to say, I am still in training. Lensrolling this one to my food-related Laftovers lens.

I LOVE veggies! Wish my kids ate them more. My favorite green veggie is fiddleheads, found in the wild here in Maine and sold fresh at local grocery stores in the spring. Fiddleheads are the ostrich fern harvested before they fully open, and are named after the head on a fiddle, because that is just what they look like. They are delicious steamed with butter added. Check out the lens I made on them.

Wendy - Absolutely stunning and informative lens! It looks so delicious I could eat those veggies off the screen. I tend to prefer my veggies raw - cucumbers, cabbage, and green peppers are my favorite greens. Excellent lens!

Great lens WindyWinters! I love green vegetables too, but don't think about how much I like them! I got an idea out of a magazine the other day for making your water more tempting by keeping a pitcher ready and adding cucumber slices to it for flavor. I haven't tried this, but it sounds interesting.

Green beans ARE favorites of mine. I love mine steamed and with just fresh lemon juice squirted on them (I learned how much I like this with all the dieting I've done recently!). In fact, I think green beans are some of my favorite foods overall!

Green peas: that goes without saying. YUMMY.

    Fantastic - 5 stars.

I feel healthy just reading your lens!

One of my favorites is snow peas. I like to munch on them raw. Yum. (Although, I'd probably choose potato chips if they had an equal amount of calories.) But we used to grow pretty much all of our own food, so I "learned" to like all sorts of green things.

I'm going over to my lens of top ten lists and add this to the plexo there.
