Does your non-profit organization use Paypal to accept online donations?

Having a website for your organization is an important tool for success in the 21st Century. Non-profit organizations often struggle with how to design their website to represent themselves and their work. A website is a great way to share the mission and goals of an organization. It can help put a face on a name, create interest for volunteers and donors and communicate opportunities to get involved.

Paypal has been supporting non-profit groups with payment acceptance services for a few years. As one of the services in the Ebay family, Paypal gives non-profits a way to accept donations online that is easy to install.

Paypal is currently expanding their program with a donations promotion. "We're extending the highly popular Donations campaign to March 31. Here's the deal: You download the Donations integration kit and integrate the Donate Button for your non-profit clients. They begin accepting online contributions right away. If your client is one of the first 1,000 eligible nonprofits who sign up and earn $500 in donations through Paypal, we'll make a $50 donation to their cause (See website for details)." Paypal shared this announcement in its developers newsletter for March. Don't wait, get registered TODAY!

In 2008, this is just one of the new ways for groups to grow GREEN! Using a combination of Squidoo lenses (created by individuals, groups, board members, volunteers & supporters) and Ebay's Mission Fish (the arm of auction based Ebay specifically created to support non-profit organizations) you can create a fundraising powerhouse with minimal effort.

No matter your cause, Squidoo can help you find the money to do good!

Share your story and your supporters will grow!

Every non-profit organization or group has a mission. The "why" you do what you do is the core of programs, activities and the people involved in your organization. On Squidoo, you can share your mission, that story of "why" connecting to a world of new people who support your mission. Each time your story is heard for the first time, you have an opportunity to create a new supporter.

You may be looking for just dollars. Squidoo lenses are fine tuned to create traffic and sales when set up right. You may be looking for volunteers. You'll find lots of groups on Squidoo through searches. There's lots of ways to grow your non-profit using Squidoo!

My favorite thing about Squidoo is that while you're growing green with dollars, you're also helping the environment. In our world today, marketing is a challenge that all types of businesses face. Non-profits are doubly challenged by finding the best use of their dollars to serve while keeping a public image alive to reach supporters for funds. On Squidoo, you can share your message, create revenue and market your organization with just a few hours of time invested each week. This can save time planning campaigns, save trees reducing mailings, and most of all save dollars while reaching a larger target audience.

Share your story, browse our links & let us know how we can help you grow more green 4 good!

NEW Request for Proposals are arriving!

Don't wait for the last minute to plan for success in fundraising this year

So, you have the RFP, you've reviewed the guidelines and the funding seems to be a good match with your organization. Do you jump in and fill in all the blanks or do you first really consider "is this grant going to be worth our investment?"

Many organizations spend much of their time chasing dollars. For some, it's what's required to get the job done. For some, it's just the culture of the organization.

Strong organizations that expect to be around for the long haul do things with a bit more consideration, meaning they have a plan in place and follow the plan. Funding opportunities are considered if they fit the plan.

Before attacking the next RFP that arrives in your inbox, use this check-list to consider the value;

- does the mission of the funder/program match the mission of our organization?

- how many hours will be invested in this application?

- if successful, how many hours will be necessary to manage/administer this funding?

- what impact will receiving this funding have on our organization?

If you can honestly access these issues and find there is benefit for you to complete the grant application, regardless of results, then have at it!

Often times organizations find that they are investing more time/staff hours plus publicity in the administration of grants instead of furthering the mission of their organization. That's where the return on investment benefits the funder, not the organization.

For small organizations with minimal budgets, that can mean the difference in having a staff member or servicing a program.

Tough choices are made every day in the non-profit world. Making them pro-actively, considering all the facts, makes everyone better informed and more aware of how to best use the resources of the organization.

Make your next Silent Auction a massive Money Maker!

Follow this process & reap the reward$

OK, you're planning your next fundraiser. You have a few donated items worth about $300. You need to raise $1,000. Follow this process & let us know what your results are;

1 Get a Squidoo Page, fill it with facts about your group, why you need the money & pictures of your participants, volunteers, staff & others, and include links to related books, Ebay listings and other money makers to benefit your organization.

2 Set a date to achieve your goal, 4-6 weeks is good to get everyone involved.

3 Register for a Mission Fish account if you are a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization, takes 2 or 3 days to complete.

4 Gather your donated items, take pictures, write descriptions and create listings for your auctions.

5 Send an invitation to a VIRTUAL AUCTION to all your members and supporters. By email is cheapest and has an immediate response. Link to your Squidoo lens and your Mission Fish auctions.

NOTE: Invite EVERYONE to create a FREE Squidoo page of their own, then link back to YOUR page. This way you have that many MORE opportunities to reach people who can give to your cause!

6 BE DILEGENT! Answer questions about your items, be prepared for shipping questions, and constantly be promoting your cause.

7 When it's over, tally the results, make sure to thank everyone, then DO IT AGAIN SOON!

We're listening.

I am new to Squidoo-ing and blogging but decided to take this gray, icy day to play on my computer. I read the information on fundraising and found it fascinating. Thanks for all the information you have posted on this site. If it is helpful to a beginner then it must be a boon to those that know something!

Great lens! As we already discussed, my great challenge is the high levels of executive salaries of some "nonprofits". Seems contradictory to me that they can call themselves non-profits. But I admire your work and you fund raising efforts. I have given this lens a 5* rating. Best of luck to you!
