The first Green Blogathon brought together some of the best green bloggers in a feeding frenzy of eco-centric posting, all in the name of a good cause.
The Green Blogathon was brought to life by Shea Gunther and Jeff McIntire-Strasburg. They were joined by fellow green bloggers Kevin Humphrey, Jen Kibler-McCabe, Liz Hincks, Mike Papageorge, Michael d'Estries, and Ryan Wiseman.
Bloggers signed on and committed to writing two posts an hour for either a 6, 12, 18, or 24 hour shift. They raised money from their readers on a per-post basis and donated it to a non-profit of their choice.
It kicked off here Friday, February 24 at 8pm PST and ran through Saturday 8pm PST.
The next Blogathon is coming up this summer.
Welcome Yahoo News Readers!
Thanks for clicking over
Enjoy browsing around the Lens and please check out the blogs of the individual bloggers. They're all great writers and even nicer people, you'll probably find something you'll like.
Cheers!

- It's Official! Welcome to Alternative Source
- So, just what is Alternative Source?
Alternative Source is intended to be an information source for alternative energy (AE). We collect data from all over the web and publish it in a series of weblogs: News, Resources, the Directory and the Weblog. - The Green Blogathon
- Shea Gunther has the details of who is participating, and just what this is all about.
As mentioned above, we will be participating by writing and also finishing up a few details that are left to clean up on the site.
We'll be blogging for The Nature Conservancy, and have pledges of up to one Euro per post. We shouldn't have any trouble reaching 75 Euros or 75 posts, as I've decided to include news, directory and resource items in the mix. Those are much easier and quicker to blog. - The Alternative Energy Tipping Point - Is it Here, Will it Happen?
- The very idea that the title of this article suggests may seem a bit geographically arrogant. How could a concept like the use of alternative energy sources, with its global scope, be considered to tip at a given moment? Perhaps, then, this question is too far reaching?
- Groovy Green » Let’s Kick The Tires and Light The Green Fires!
- And, we're off! The 2006 Green Blog-A-Thon has started! Michael, Steve, and Chris will be your hosts tonight and we'll be doing our best to bring you interesting articles for the next 24-hours. Please feel free to leave comments and get us chatting?especially after midnight.

- Groovy Green » #23: Need Wall Insulation? How about Soy?
- Good home insulation is imperative in reducing energy waste. Any insulation, if properly installed can substantially reduce monthly utility bills, dampen outside noise, and improve the value of your home. A soybean-based polyurethane foam, BioBase501 and Healthyseal, have recently received attention for their eco-sustainability.
- Groovy Green » #22: Great Lakes Ice Free For First Time In 100+ Years
- Well, this should come as no surprise as January was the hottest month on record. However, it is amazing?especially for someone who grew up on Lake Erie?that there is no ice present anywhere. The NY Times is reporting that businesses usually dependent on the ice for customers are losing substantial amounts of money. For the first time in it's 100 year history, the Miller Boat Ferry Line ran across Lake Erie throughout the entire month of January?which meant less business for private air carriers.
- Groovy Green » #15: Eco-Friendly Laptop?
- Wal-Mart has just teamed up with Toshiba America to produce a laptop that is RoHS-compliant.
The RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substance) is a European Parliament measure which prohibits the use of specified hazardous substances in electrical and electronic devices. The directive will take effect on July 1, 2006. - .:the be sustainable weblog:. » Blog Archive » CANWEA
